  1. Famous Cities in Kazakhstan Kazakhstan is a unitary dominant-party republic located in the central region of the Asian continent. The capital of Kazakhstan is Nur-Sultan while the largest city is Almaty. Kazakhstan is the largest country in Central Asia and the ninth largest in the world. Kazakhstan’s great mineral resources and arable lands have long aroused the envy of outsiders, and the resulting exploitation has generated environmental and political problems. Although Kazakhstan is one of the 10 largest countries in the world, it's still a destination that many travelers haven't put on their bucket list.   2. 1. Almaty Almaty, Kazakhstan's largest metropolis is set in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau Mountains. It served as the country's capital until 1997 and remains Kazakhstan's trading and cultural hub. 9% of the countries population located in one city, it is certainly a hustling and bustling place to be. The city is still the centre of commerce for Kazakhstan, with the stock exchange and largest banks located. Shymkent Shymkent is the capital city of South Kazakhstan Province, the most populated region in Kazakhstan. It is near the border with Uzbekistan.
