3. Historyof the Secondary School of Economics THE SECONDARY SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS IN SOSNOWIEC AT 66 GEN. GROTA-ROWECKIEGO STREET AND IS THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION WHICH EXIST FROM 1ST SEPTEMBER 1959 AT THE TIME IT WAS CREATED WATECHNICAL SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS. WITH PRIMARY COMMERCIAL COLLEGE, EXISTING EARLIER AS AN FACULTY OF PRIMARY VOCATIONAL SCHOOL AT 25 KILINSKIEGO STREET, IT FORMEO BEGININGS OF PRESENT SCHOOL. BULILDING OF DORMITORY OF THEN SECONDARY SCHOOL OF STEEL-MAIKING IN SOSNOWIEC. BECAME THE RESIDENCE OF THE SECOND SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS. IN 1965 THE SCHOOL ADOPTED THE WHOLE BUILDING, THAT CREATED POSSIBILITES FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE SCHOOL. IN THE SPACE OF YEARS NEW TYPES OF SCHOOLS AND NEW SPECJALITES WERE INCLUDED. THEIR CREATION DEPENDENT ON THE MARKET NEEDS. THE SCHOOL EDUCATED MANY GOOD ECONOMICTS, MERCHANTS, OFFICE WORKERS, SALESMEN. THE SCHOOL IS 47 YEARS OLD AND CAN BE PROWD OF MANY SUCCESSES OF ITS STUDENTS. THEY ACHIEVED GREAT RESULTS IN MANY CONTESTS AND COMPETITIONS LIKE THE OLYMPIAD OF ECONOMY KNOWLEDGE, THE COMPETITION OF KNOWLEDGE AND MANAGING AND MERCHANT SKILS, THE CONETEST OF YOUNG SALESMAN AND MANY OTHERS THEIR GOOD RESULTS ARE PROMOTION FOR THE SCHOOL. WE CAN ALSO BE PROUD OF SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT ON COUNTRY RANGE CITY FIELD. THE SCHOOL EDUCATED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS, WHO GET A GOOD RECOGNITION OF THEIR EMPLOYERS. 4. NOWADAYS The Secondary School of Economics is placed on the outskirts of the Sosnowiec. The sity has over 200000 inhabitants. Convenient acces cause that location of the school is very good in respect of comunications. BASS OF THE SCHOOL The conditions of teaching highly improved during the existance of the School. At present the school has got 22 classrooms including 2 computer rooms with an acces to the internet, gym fitnes room. 5. At present our school has got 413 students in the followingspecialities: 1.A four-year secondary trading school. The students get the theoretical and practical knowledge of marketing, advertising, business negotiations, accountancy, company management and business correspondence. 2.A four-year school of economics. It offers a chnce to get the theoretical and practical knowledge of the market economy, banking system and such fields as: • home and foreign tourism • the EU economy • office management • public relations • human resources • business psychology 3.A two-year school for shop-assistants. The school is aimed at preparing its students to work in shops, supermarkets and warehouses. 4.A two-year college of economics for the graduates of all secondary schools. 10. The School wish to participate in program Comenius 1 on account of necessity of facing students and local environ-ment needs. Connecting international cooperation comes out from records of Development Plan of the School for years 2005/2010 which was authorizerd by the Board of teachers.The project deals with the environment protection and the wase materials economy. • THE AIM OF THE PROJECT IS: • The international exchange, • Student’s awareneness of the environment protection, • Language learning motivation, • Using the new methods in foreign language learning THE PARTICULAR AIMS OF THE PROJECT: - iternational exchange of thoughts, experience and information about waste material economics, - engaging students in didactic process in partner schools, - encouraging students to use new technologies in learning foreign languages, - trying to interest students in problems related with recycling/ulilization and waste materials economics through entering into communication with specialized firms, organizing meetings and international exchangigng of knowledge gained in this range, - taking notice of students for using disposable and plastic package in various aims, - stimulating fine arts and scenographic creativity of students through creating possibilities to develop various talents for example manual, intelectual or musical, - directing students on problems of environment protection through organizing various campaigns, - developing idea of competition through coorganizing and taking part of the internet contest „Methods of storage and processing waste materials”, - creating friendly, interpersonal contacts among students, teachers, schools, local surroundings and mass-medias by including medias into popularization of the project, - sharing knowledge among students and teachers of all partner schools on the subject of environment protection and waste materials economics, - sharing knowledge about waste materials economics in large group for example with city dwellers throughcampaign „Days of Open Door”, lectures, presentations, - developing art of self-portrayal on international forum, - promoting healthy life-style, active forms of relaxing, health food in countries which participate in the project. www.comenius-zse.strefa.pl Chapter
