Style M bobbins These bobbins are used in industrial and mid-large sized commercial sewing machines to sew canvas, heavy fabric, upholstery, and leather. Style U bobbins Slightly smaller in diameter than Style 58 bobbins, the Style U bobbins are used for sewing nets, tie downs, and tarps in both industrial and heavy-duty commercial sewing machines. Style G bobbins These bobbins are used in small to medium sized industrial sewing machines. Style L bobbins While these bobbins are majorly used (40%) in home sewing machines, they are also used in many long-arm and commercial embroidery machines. Which bobbin does your machine require? With all these styles of bobbins and many more varieties, it is important that you know which bobbin style your machines require. The bobbin you use should be able to serve the purpose your machine is to fulfill. So, how do you know which bobbin your machine requires? Here are a few ways to find out. Check the user manual – The best and easiest way to find out is by looking at the user manual you got with your machine. The manual will definitely have the size and style of bobbin mentioned. Consult your machine’s manufacturer– If you have lost your manual or are unable to find about the bobbin style written in it, you can contact the machine’s manufacturer who will be able to confirm for you the size and style of bobbin your machine requires for effective operation. Check your last bobbin – If you have been using your machine for a long time and now are in need of new bobbins, check for the box or packaging of your previous bobbins. The style and size will undoubtedly be written there.

  3. The last option – If none of the above is possible for you, the last option you have is to compare your used bobbin with various new bobbins.
