  1. Journey of the spirit, Lesson 16, The accounting and the witnesses and testimonies. The bridge or SIRAAT

  2. Judicial system of the day of Judgment • It will be a fast ,fair and just judicial system, no one will be oppressed on that day, every one will get what he deserves, and the believers will get more than what they deserve from the bounty and blessings of Allah (swt). • لِيَجْزِي اللّهُ كُلَّ نَفْسٍ مَّا كَسَبَتْ إِنَّ اللّهَ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ {51} • [Shakir 14:51] That Allah may requite each soul (according to) what it has earned; surely Allah is swift in reckoning.الْيَوْمَ تُجْزَى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ لَا ظُلْمَ الْيَوْمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ {17} • [Shakir 40:17] This day every soul shall be rewarded for what it has earned; no injustice (shall be done) this day; surely Allah is quick in reckoning.

  3. Three types of accounting • فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ {7} • [Shakir 84:7] Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand,فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا {8} • [Shakir 84:8] He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning,وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا {9} • [Shakir 84:9] And he shall go back to his people joyful.وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاء ظَهْرِهِ {10} • [Shakir 84:10] And as to him who is given his book behind his back,فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا {11} • [Shakir 84:11] He shall call for perdition,وَيَصْلَى سَعِيرًا {12} • [Shakir 84:12] And enter into burning fire.Excellent behavior with others eases the account. • Those who ease on their brothers God will ease on them, and those who are difficult in accounting them, God will do the same.

  4. The third type: Exempted; SABIQOON • مَنْ عَمِلَ سَيِّئَةً فَلَا يُجْزَى إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَى وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُوْلَئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ يُرْزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ {40} • [Shakir 40:40] Whoever does an evil, he shall not be recompensed (with aught) but the like of it, and whoever does good, whether male or female, and he is a believer, these shall enter the garden, in which they shall be given sustenance without measure.قُلْ يَا عِبَادِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمْ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌ وَأَرْضُ اللَّهِ وَاسِعَةٌ إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ {10} • [Shakir 39:10] Say: O my servants who believe! be careful of (your duty to) your Lord; for those who do good in this world is good, and Allah's earth is spacious; only the patient will be paid back their reward in full without measure.

  5. Those who always remember Allah (swt) • رِجَالٌ لَّا تُلْهِيهِمْ تِجَارَةٌ وَلَا بَيْعٌ عَن ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاء الزَّكَاةِ يَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا تَتَقَلَّبُ فِيهِ الْقُلُوبُ وَالْأَبْصَارُ {37} • [Shakir 24:37] Men whom neither merchandise nor selling diverts from the remembrance of Allah and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of poor-rate; they fear a day in which the hearts and eyes shall turn about;لِيَجْزِيَهُمُ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنَ مَا عَمِلُوا وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِ وَاللَّهُ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَاء بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ {38} • [Shakir 24:38] That Allah may give them the best reward of what they have done, and give them more out of His grace; and Allah gives sustenance to whom He pleases without measure. • It has been narrated that the complete wicked ones and the idol worshipers will also be exempted from any accounting, and will be taken to hell directly.

  6. Measuring Scale (MEZAAN) • وَنَضَعُ الْمَوَازِينَ الْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْئًا وَإِن كَانَ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا وَكَفَى بِنَا حَاسِبِينَ {47} • [Shakir 21:47] And We will set up a just balance on the day of resurrection, so no soul shall be dealt with unjustly in the least; and though there be the weight of a grain of mustard seed, (yet) will We bring it, and sufficient are We to take account.MEZAAN means criteria, balance and just. So every one will get what he deserves with Justice, every single deed will be compensated. • Another interpretation is that the Infallibles (AS) are the criteria, so the more his deeds will be close to the deed of the Infallibles (AS) the more he or his scale will be heavy, and the more he will be far away from them, and closer to their enemies and the enemies of Islam the more his scale will be light, and will get more punishment.

  7. The criteria will be the truth (HUQ) • وَالْوَزْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْحَقُّ فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ {8} • [Shakir 7:8] And the measuring out on that day will be just; then as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is heavy, those are they who shall be successful;وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُواْ أَنفُسَهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا يِظْلِمُونَ { [Shakir 7:9] And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications.فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ {6} • [Shakir 101:6] Then as for him whose measure of good deeds is heavy,فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ {7} • [Shakir 101:7] He shall live a pleasant life.وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ {8} • [Shakir 101:8] And as for him whose measure of good deeds is light,فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ {9} • [Shakir 101:9] His abode shall be the abyss.وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ {10}نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ {11 • [Shakir 101:10] And what will make you know what it is?

  8. The witnesses of the Judgment 1. Allah (SWT) and the angels: فَإِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ ثُمَّ اللّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَى مَا يَفْعَلُونَ {46} [Shakir 10:46] …, yet to Us is their return, and Allah is the bearer of witness to what they do. • لَّـكِنِ اللّهُ يَشْهَدُ بِمَا أَنزَلَ إِلَيْكَ أَنزَلَهُ بِعِلْمِهِ وَالْمَلآئِكَةُ يَشْهَدُونَ وَكَفَى بِاللّهِ شَهِيدًا {166} • [Shakir 4:166] But Allah bears witness by what He has revealed to you that He has revealed it with His knowledge, and the angels bear witness (also); and Allah is sufficient as a witness. 2. Infallible (AS) Prophet/ Imam of each nation: • فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَـؤُلاء شَهِيدًا {41} [Shakir 4:41] How will it be, then, when We bring from every people a witness and bring you as a witness against these?وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَسْتَ مُرْسَلاً قُلْ كَفَى بِاللّهِ شَهِيدًا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَمَنْ عِندَهُ عِلْمُ الْكِتَابِ {43} • [Shakir 13:43] And those who disbelieve say: You are not a messenger. Say: Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you and whoever has knowledge of the Book (The Infallible (AS)).

  9. The testimony of the organs: The organs which committed the sins will talk and testify against their owners. God will make these talk, and this will be a testimony which can never be denied by the sinner. • وَقَالُوا لِجُلُودِهِمْ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمْ عَلَيْنَا قَالُوا أَنطَقَنَا اللَّهُ الَّذِي أَنطَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ وَهُوَ خَلَقَكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ {21} • [Shakir 41:21] And they shall say to their skins: Why have you borne witness against us? They shall say: Allah Who makes everything speak has made us speak, and He created you at first, and to Him you shall be brought back.يَوْمَ تَشْهَدُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَلْسِنَتُهُمْ وَأَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ {24} • [Shakir 24:24] On the day when their tongues and their hands and their feet shall bear witness against them as to what they did.الْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَى أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَا أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ • [Shakir 36:65] On that day We will set a seal upon their mouths, and their hands shall speak to Us, and their feet shall bear witness of what they earned.وَجَاءتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّعَهَا سَائِقٌ وَشَهِيدٌ {21}[Shakir 50:21] And every soul shall come, with it a driver and a witness. One angel is preventing him from escape, another from denying the charges.

  10. The Bridge of SIRAAT • It connects the land of accounting to the Paradise, and goes over the hell fire, so every one is going to go over the hell fire, but for the pious it will be peace and cool, and for the evil doers it will pull them down, because the fire has the dragging nature, it drags them towards it self. • نَزَّاعَةً لِّلشَّوَى {16} • [Shakir 70:16] Dragging by the head,تَدْعُو مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّى {17} • [Shakir 70:17] It shall claim him who turned and fled (from truth), • وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ {73} • [Shakir 23:73] And most surely you invite them to a right way.وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ عَنِ الصِّرَاطِ لَنَاكِبُونَ {74} • [Shakir 23:74] And most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter are deviating from the way.(True Islam is the SIRAAT on the day of judgment) • In many narrations Imam Ali (AS) and his way is the manifestation of the true Islam.

  11. The righteous will be saved • وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا كَانَ عَلَى رَبِّكَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِيًّا {71} • [Shakir 19:71] And there is not one of you but shall come to it (the hell fire); this is an unavoidable decree of your Lord.ثُمَّ نُنَجِّي الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوا وَّنَذَرُ الظَّالِمِينَ فِيهَا جِثِيًّا {72} • [Shakir 19:72] And We will deliver those who guarded (against evil), and We will leave the unjust therein on their knees.وَلَوْ نَشَاء لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَى أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَاسْتَبَقُوا الصِّرَاطَ فَأَنَّى يُبْصِرُونَ {66} • [Shakir 36:66] And if We please We would certainly put out their eyes, then they would run about groping for the way, but how should they see? (Allah can take away their sight and not them see the path of SIRAAT, but Allah will not do that and let them see their way to give them fair chance, but because they were blind from seeing the truth in the world they will also become blind and fall down

  12. Different levels of people • Some will see nothing in front of them. • Some will see a bridge more thinner than the hair and more sharper than the blade. • Some will see a spread out broad road. • Some will fall, others will crawl, some will walk in great fear, others will walk faster, some will run, and others will cross like a flashing light, one leg on the bridge and other in the Paradise. • Some will walk for thousands of years. • All based on the types and the degrees of the sins, and the intercessions offered.
