  2. Course Selection Timelines: On line course selection opens: February 8th, 2012 On line course selection closes: February 21st , 2012 Students that do not submit course selections in myBlueprint by Feb. 21st must see a guidance counsellor

  3. Choices 18 compulsory credits and 12 electives 40 community hours Literacy Test or OLC 401

  4. Spares? Students in grade 12 are required to take8 credits if you have earned 22 or less7 credits if you have earned 23 or more6 credits if you have earned 24 or more

  5. New for 2012-2013 • Landscape Architecture THD 4M1 • This will be a hands on course that will teach you the various aspects of landscape design and construction • Students will have an opportunity to work in the courtyard to develop real life skills

  6. New for 2012 - 2013 • Fitness and Recreation Leadership PLF4C • This course will be 70% classroom based and 30% activity based • Ideal for those students looking to develop or improve their leadership abilities in a physed setting • This course will prepare students for Fitness and Recreation programs at College

How to choose COOP There is no application process – simply choose COOP as an option in myBlueprint COOP4 – 4 credit full day every other day COOP2 – 2 credit half day every other day For more information: a) see Ms. Graves or Mr. Dias b) see a guidance counselor In March and April the COOP teachers will meet with you to discuss your placement and options moving forward

  13. STUDENT COURSE SELECTION STEPS Log into myBlueprint Enter OEN/DOB (on first visit) Access High School Planner Add Courses to Official Plan Review and Submit Courses Print and Return Sign-Off Sheet

  15. ENTER OEN/DOB (FIRST VISIT) Select your Grade Enter your OEN & Date ofBirth

  16. ACCESS HIGH SCHOOL PLANNER Click on “Plan Courses”

  17. Click on Add <Course> Click on the course you would like to select Click Add Course to Plan

  18. HIGH SCHOOL PLANNER Click “View Progress” to view your Graduation Status Click “Submit” when you have selected your courses and are ready to submit

  19. REVIEW AND SUBMIT COURSES Review your selections Click Confirm and Print when you are ready to submit Note: You will not be able to change your course selections in myBlueprint after this step. Please consult your Guidance Counsellor if you wish to make any changes after you have submitted your courses.

  20. PRINT SIGN-OFF SHEET Congratulations! You’re done! Please print and return a signed copy of your Course Selection Sign-Off Sheet to your Counsellor or Teacher.

Articulated Programs • Attending college first and then university • College diplomas have lots of pathways to university • Can be a less expensive route • Highly competitive universities and programs offer less admission and credits • See individual college handbooks for details • See sample

College Degrees Community Colleges offer degrees that fulfill the same government requirements as University degrees (can be used to apply to Teacher’s College, Grad. school etc.) Most have well paid co-op opportunities that usually turn into full time jobs Usually have chances for overseas opportunities See sample

  29. Scholarships Looking for students with strong profiles (community activities, overseas experiences, high marks, school involvement) Looking for passion towards a long-term cause (AIDS, poverty, technology etc.) Handout with some tips (Dedication, Ask for Help, Explore Websites)

Apprenticeship 16 year olds with 16 credits can start the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) Choose co-op on option sheet to register with OYAP and learn valuable skills that will contribute to successful completion of Certificate of Qualification There are 157 apprenticeships recognized by the Ministry of Training Red Seal program allows for greater mobility of skilled workers across Canada (currently there are 46 Red Seal trades)
