  1. Treaty of Brest-Litovsk • March 1918: Russia signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with Germany. • This allowed Germany to pull their troops from the Eastern Front and focus on securing the Western Front.

Marshal Foch • Marshal Ferdinand Foch was given control of the Allied forces in March of 1918. • Promoted after he led the Ninth Army during the Battle of the Marne and fought in the Somme Offensive. • Foch headed a Unified Allied Force near the Western Front in July of 1918. • He helped stop the German's push at the Second Battle of the Marne. • Ordered a counter-offensive that helped decide the fate of the war.
