Time can be expressed in a 12- hour a.m./p.m. form, or as 24-hour time.

12-hour clock • The 12-hour clock notation uses am and pm to indicate morning and afternoon. • am is the time from 12 midnight and before 12 noon. • pm is the time from 12 noon and before 12 midnight. • For example • 6.23am means 23 minutes past 6 in the morning • 7.45am means quarter to 8 in the morning

24-hour clock The 24-hour clock does not require the use of am or pm. Afternoon is indicated by a number bigger than 12. When converting from the 12-hour clock to the 24-hour clock remember: for any time after 12.59 pm, add 12. • For example • 3.00pm becomes (3 + 12) = 1500 • 5.46pm becomes (5.46 + 12) = 1746
