  1. Where are the Elijahs of God?

  2. Elijah’s Name means“my God is Jehovah” Home wasTishbe in Gilead Ministry was in the9th century Territory of authority, theNorthern Kingdom

  3. Conditions of The Northern kingdom in Elijah's day- A Turbulent, Painful Epoch: • Idolatrous King Jeroboam & his successors brought political instability & idolatry. • Omri, Jeroboam’s successor, made Samaria- a coastal city, capital of his kingdom, instead of Jerusalem.   • The 12 tribes were divided into 2 kingdoms (1 Kings 12:16): Israel in the north and Judah in the south.

  4. What is Idolatry? Hebrew: Avodah Zarah- means “false worship. Worship of anyone or anything in place of worshipping the One True Living God!” Exodus 20: 3, “You shall have no other gods before Me,” verse 5a, “you shall not bow down to them nor serve them…”

  5. Ahab becomes king of Israel • Ahab, son of Omri, rules 874-853 BC. • Marries Jezebel, the Phoenician princess, a priestess. • Influence of Jezebel turns nation to Ba'al worship. (Ba’al-Canaanite god.)

  6. Read God’s description of King Ahab… 1 Kings 16:29-33

  7. Enter on the scene: Elijah, the prophet! In an hour of Israel’s greatest danger, God intervenes! He raises up one of the most powerful prophets, to counter the evil revolution of his day!

  8. Prophet in Hebrew- “Navi” A PROPHET is male or female who has received the gift of prophecy from God. A PROPHET is given power and authority from YHVH (God) to receive His Word and communicate the Word to others.  PROPHETS are consumed with love for YHVH and His Word (commandments), powerfully conscious of His presence and devoted to His covenant! PROPHETS are driven by the need to recall people to love of YHVH and His covenant!

  9. Elijah’s Jeremiah 20:9b, "But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not."   Regardless of the COST, the TRIALS, the INCONVENIENCE, PROPHETS SPEAK GOD'S WORD AND BRING HEALING & DELIVERANCE TO PEOPLE & NATIONS!

  10. PROPHETS call people back to the love of God & neighbor IN CONCERT WITH HIS WORD & INTO COVENANT WITH GOD & HIS CHILDREN!  Their goal: is the purity of YHVH's people INCLUDING purity of doctrine and worship!

  11. God raised up "a man of like passions as we have," James 5: 17, “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours and he prayed earnestly...", A man of courage & faith, A man of authority & integrity, A man steadfastness & prayerfulness!

  12. 1 KINGS 18:1 says, "And it came to pass after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, "Go, present yourself to Ahab..."

  13. WHERE ARE THE ELIJAHS OF GOD? • Who will go, • Who will speak, • Who will be a voice, • Who will stand before the ”Ahabs” of this generation?

  14. Jesus, draw me close… LET’S PARTAKE OF COMMUNION TOGETHER!
