  1. Strategy Welcome to the New Order

  2. Synopsis Act 1: The government freezes a select few citizens, storing them in pods to awake at some point in the future whilst giving them all drugs which convince them that the government are good and the rebels are bad. Act 2: Rebels free one of the frozen citizens, who are one of their siblings, explanation on what has happened because the false hero can’t remember. Act 3: Sabotage from the false hero and the government against the rebels Conclusion: Death of the rebels at the hands of the false hero. USP: that our main character – thought to be the protagonist - is actually a false hero. A Totalitarian government freezes an ‘elite’ section of their citizens and attempt to kill off the people that they do not want. Small groups of rebels go into hiding and begin fighting for survival, the main group of rebel protagonists set up a plan to unfreeze their leader’s sibling only to find that he/she has forgotten their past life. Whilst frozen the false hero is given drugs to forget everything about their past life so that they believe they need to infiltrate the rebel group and destroy them from the inside to remain loyal to the government. This hinders the rebel group’s plans to escape when the false hero uses sabotage whilst working alongside government forces.

  3. Characters Nova Leader of a gang of rebels, Nova was never chosen to be frozen and was instead forced to go into hiding or otherwise be killed by the Government in their attempt to exterminate those they don’t deem worthy of keeping alive. Upon learning of his sister’s location, he and his gang undergo a rescue mission. Awakening Lilith, Nova attempts to remind her of who she once was whilst continuing his plans to overthrow the Government from power. Lilith Having been chosen for part of the cryogenic scheme, Lilith is put in a pod for freezing during the extermination of the rebels. Whilst ‘asleep’, the Government give her (and the others who were chosen) drugs which erase all memories of her past life. When unexpectedly awoken by her brother, the leader of a rebel gang, she remains oblivious as to who he is. Choosing to escape the cryogenics facility and find refuge with him and the other rebels, she pretends to work with them whilst secretly contacting the Government, following orders from them to continue to infiltrate the gang and bring them in for justice.

  4. Characters The Rebels Consisting of free-thinkers and people who admire creativity, the Rebels split off into groups and are attempting to survive in the outskirts of a city that was once their home. Often territorial, they fight amongst themselves as often as they do the Government, with more and more casualties reported every day. The Government Totalitarian and fuelled by their dream of creating the ‘perfect’ race, the Government is run by powerful men and women who know that – to achieve their goal – they must first rid the city of those who disobey orders. Initiating their cryogenic scheme, they store the citizens they wish to keep in an underground facility whilst sending out task forces and armies to destroy the rebels who are deemed no longer worthy of being allowed to live.

  5. Settings The Rebel Base • Shoreham Cement Works The site is derelict and will work well for scenes involving the rebels as it’s a big contrast when compared to the city. The City • Near Brighton Station Buildings look modern, with repetitive patterns and symmetry that make them look quite futuristic. The Cryogenic Facility • House We’re going to use mise-en-scene and props to try and create a “pod” to represent the storage units in which the chosen citizens are frozen/put to sleep in.

  6. Marketing Distribution As it is an independent film, it would be shown in independent cinemas such as the Duke of York. If it were to be popular we could then consider showing it in more ‘mainstream’ cinemas such as the Odeon or Cineworld. Target Audience Our film (and trailer) is going to be aimed at young adults with an interest in other dystopian films and novels. Promotion To promote our film, advertisement can be used in the form of posters and magazine interviews. As it is going to be a relatively low-budget production it is unlikely we would be able to afford promotional methods such as TV spots. Certification includes dangerous behaviour, moderate violence, moderate language, action sequences and weapons (but not glamorised).

  7. References & Inspiration • Historical • - Protagonist’s name ‘Nova’ means ‘new’ in Latin as does ‘Neo’ from The Matrix. • - The Nazi uprising (historical context, 1939-1945): • Beginning of the film the human race is sifted into an ‘Arian race’, the weaker and less ‘perfect’ are killed in an attempt by the government to build a new race of people. Films - The Matrix (1999): First scene, main character waking up in a pod with wires stuck to her arms. - Equilibrium (2002): Totalitarian government. - 1984 (1984): Humans are drugged into becoming drones for the government. Also references the ‘new order’ imposed by the Nazis.
