  5. The reclassification procedure • For a small or medium-size office the administration of the reclassification takes much more time than the actual reclassification of the documents • For a small or medium-size office it is difficult to justify development of reclassification software

  6. In order to get something done you must make it easy to do it!

  8. Software requirements • Presenting the documents of the working list • Select a subset of the documents • Select an individual document • Display the classification picture • Mark classifications to be modified

  9. Software requirements • Accessing patent documents for consultation • Links to esp@cenet or similar services? • Links to office-specific software • ”Offline” access, for example of paper documents

  10. Software requirements • Data entry interface • Selection of core or advanced level • Input and validation of classification symbols • Input and validation of qualifiers

  11. Software requirements • Saving of data • Direct interaction with the MCD? • Temporary local saving of results? • Generation of XML result files? • Exporting result files?

  12. Additional software features • Working list management • Creation of personal working lists of selected IPC groups? • Temporary saving of working list? • Exporting working lists?

  13. Additional software features • Integration with the IPC classification scheme • Display schemes? • Display list of valid symbols? • Display revision concordance data?

  14. Additional software features • Additional functions • Enable access of documents not on working lists, e.g. for corrections? • Enable classification in other systems, e.g. ECLA?

  15. Security aspects • Limitation of access • Multi-user office-specific login? • Individual login? • Open access?
