Style Statement with the Classic White Shirt Contrary to the popular notion that you have to be seen in floral prints or anything colored to be a head-turner, a classic white shirt can help you make a fashion statement at any time and at any occasion. Hence, it should be the staple of any women’s wardrobe.  

  2. The first picture that crosses the mind when thinking of a white shirt is the one inspired by Audrey Hepburn in her iconic movie “Roman Holiday”. The actress wore the shirt in a lot of scenes. The beautiful Audrey Hepburn white shirt had fine details on the front and the shoulders with a pleated sash that could be tied around the neck. The sleeves were rolled up to short length.   

  3. The advantage of a white shirt is that it can be worn in many ways to suit the occasion – casual to formal and everything in between.

  4. Here are some tips for you.  •Tuck the shirt into jeans, skirt or trousers of any color and roll up the sleeves. Good to wear for any occasion from a casual get-together with friends and family or a boardroom meeting.   •Let the shirt hang loosely over your favorite narrow legged jeans or leggings in a dark color. Roll up the sleeves to just below your elbows. A totally casual look! •Tie the shirt tightly around the waist and roll up the sleeves fully. This is best worn with a denim skirt in dark or light blue, a style made famous by Kirsten Dunst.    

  5. •As distinct from the previous style, tie the shirt low around the waist but let the back and sides drop over the trousers to cover the waistline. May be worn with dark or light jeans or trousers.  •The next style is the half-tuck one. Instead of tying the shirt at the front like the previous two points, tuck the shirt in at the front and let the rest hang over the trousers and jeans at the sides and the back.  •Buy a long Audrey Hepburn white shirt that reaches to your knees and wear it like a tunic. Keep a couple of buttons from the bottom of the shirt open, tie a sash or belt around the waist as the same color as the trousers and keep the sleeves rolled down. A smash hit for any event!

  6. •Wear it as an outer layer garment like a shrug over any top. Keep the front buttons open and the sleeves rolled up. The trousers or the top can be of any color. You can now understand why an Audrey Hepburn white shirt is so versatile and useful for flaunting your style and fashion quotient. Simply by changing how you wear it, you can repeatedly have a new look with the same shirt.
