  2. SHABD is an NGO initiative, a not-for profit organization that supports Secondary Education for the Meritorious Underprivileged in India. SHABD works very closely with the Government in identifying and selecting children that will benefit from the program. About SHABD

  3. The Objectives of SHABD • work closely with the Government and identify and select meritorious underprivileged children that need support to pursue secondary education • recognize merit, both academic and extracurricular • mentor the selected children • monitor progress of the selected children in school • provide books, school fees and financial assistance to the selected children • link financial support being provided to the selected children with performance in school

  4. People behind SHABD • SHABD, a non-profit NGO organization, is managed by a Board of Advisors, a set of highly placed individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying expertise. Members of the Board meet once every quarter, and provide the directions to SHABD. • The current members on the Board of Advisors of SHABD are a mix of Academicians, Technocrats, Management Experts and retired Central Government officials. • SHABD is chaired by an IIT Mumbai alumnus, holding a senior executive position in the private sector.

The SHABD Parameters for selecting children • The child should be in Class 8 or above • The child should have an above average IQ and have a strong school record Or • The child should be representing the state in any extra-curricular activity • The child should not be receiving financial assistance from any other sources • The child should be from the economically weaker society, finding it difficult to complete secondary education on account of lack of Finance, Guidance and Emotional Support SHABD, in conjunction with the Government, will be selecting children that meet the parameters listed below:

  7. SHABD’s Promise SHABD will work closely with the Government to identify and select meritorious underprivileged children that need support to pursue secondary education. SHABD will aggressively look for merit, academic or extracurricular, and ensure the selected children are hand-held, mentored, and financially supported so that they are well prepared for the future.
