Basedon a systematicliteraturereview, thisprojectdetermines and organizes 24 main challengesthat may slow down theredesigning of a supply chainfor the CircularEconomy. Among thesechallenges, 16 arewell known fromresearchinassociatedtopics.

Amultiplecasestudy has beenconductedinthehouseholdappliancesupplychain,to investigate how thesechallengesoccurinpractice andhow organizationsaretackling them. Thecasesareanalyzedthatinvolveperformersatvariouslevelsofthesupplychain and conclusionssuggestthatverticalintegration by one performerinthesupplychainis not a required conditionfor the implementationof Circular Economy. The practical study, in combination with the literature review, leads to the enhancement of a framework relating the challenges to particular levers that organizations may follow toovercome them.

The scientificliterature must be examined in a systematic way toaccomplishthese objectives.
