Hazard Map and Flood, Storm Warning System EFFECTIVENESS OF EARLY WARNING SYSTEM Specific results Flood in the Sorth of Vietnam: Applied the flood inundation map to warn the duration of flood transmission and inundation for following actions: - Evacuation in depth and damage area. - Storage of food, medicine and necessary goods. - Building the safe places for children during flood season for most vulnerable areas. - Havest crop - Protecting the fruit-tree and densely populated area by embankment.

Hazard Map and Flood, Storm Warning System EFFECTIVENESS OF EARLY WARNING SYSTEM • Fishing boats in the sea that come back or find shelter or escape from storm-effected area; do not determinelly permit fishermen in the boat; arrange the plans to respond to the storm • Ensure the safety of peoples in low land, estuary, coastal area and aquaculture area. • Execute measures for safety of dike system, structures under construction • Evacuate the hourseholds in high risk of landslide, flashflood

  11. Hazard Map and Flood, Storm Warning System HAZARD MAP DEVELOPMENT Hazard map have developed from topography map with 1. Scale: Red River Basin: 1:10.000 for downstream 1:25.000 for upstream Mekong River Delta: 1:25.000 and 1:10.000 for specilic area Central Vietnam: 1:50.000 for all provinces; 1:10.000 for downstream of some river. 2. Flood: biggest flood of historical flood.
