  3. 1) Wireless Internet Platform for Interoperability (WIPI) • the middleware providing the standard API for heterogeneous wireless internet application in mobile communications. • 2) Numeric Access System for Wireless Internet (WINC) • using simple numbers instead of complex URLs when logging on to wireless web contents • 3) I/O Connection Interface for Digital Cellular Phone • defines new 24 pin I/F for Cellular Phone (800MHz&1.8GHz) providing functions for the recharging batteries and digital connection. • 4) Digital CATV • the digital CATV interface specifications for the digital CATV service. • 5) Application I/F for Electronic Toll Collection Systems • DSRC (Dedicated Short-Range Communication) RF protocol for the ETC systems. 2. WINC(Wireless Internet Numbers for Contents) • Merit of WINC • Simple, quick and direct way to access any mobile web contents using numeric keyword • No need to type complex URLs • History • March 7 2002 : Contract of WINC(KRNIC, SKT, KTF, LG) • April 15 2002 : Test service of WINC • June 1 2002 : Start-up WINC service • July 2 2002 : Start-up real-time registration and formal WINC Service • Nov. 15 2002 : Start-up additional service (content naming and its searching) GSC-8, OTTAWA

(2.3GHz) Wireless Potable Internet O Wide-area Wireless Internet  WLAN (for small area) O The Korea Government has announced plans to re-allocate the 2.3 GHz spectrum to a new wireless portable internet service in December 6, 2002. O Since TTA do not have the industry standards for wireless portable internet, TTA members has requested the preparation of the standard to TTA Secretariat. O TTA CC consented to compose a new Project Group of Wireless Portable Internet for developing the new standard in April 2003. GSC-8, OTTAWA
