Data Collection PlanningHIPAA of 1996 • HIPPA privacy rule provides first national standards for protecting the privacy of health information. • Provides protection for the privacy of certain individually identifiable health data (PHI). • Regulates how certain entities (Covered Entities) use and disclose PHI.   24. Exercise 1:Data Source Strengths & Weaknesses • Brief scenario regarding potential availability of state IP data • Develop assessment questions re: strengths and weaknesses of the data • Debrief to include additional questions to consider and sample data request letters • Use worksheet
