  1. The Benjamin Y. H. Liu Award American Association for Aerosol Research

  2. This award honorsBenjamin Y. H. Liu for his leadership in the aerosol community and his own seminal contributions to aerosol science through instrumentation and experimental research. The Benjamin Y. H. Liu Award“recognizes outstanding contributions to aerosol instrumentation and experimental techniques that have significantly advanced the science and technology of aerosols”.

  3. 2009 Recipient of the Benjamin Y. H. Liu Award • Heinz Fissan, Prof. Dr. • Univ of Duisburg-Essen and IUTA • Nominated by Dr. –Ing. Christof Asbach • Dr.-Ing. 1970 and Habilitation 1974, RWTH Aachen, Germany • Author of more than 300 referred papers, 5 patents, and 6 commercial instruments to his credit • Conference Co-Chair, together with Prof. Ben Liu of the 1st International Aerosol Conference, held in Minneapolis, 1984 • “…He is one of the early scientists to introduce nanotechnology into aerosol science. His ideas of using well-defined engineered nanoparticles for gas sensors were ground breaking….” • “His work to develop the Nanoparticle Surface Area Monitor and Nanometer Aerosol Sampler will aid researchers to determine the concentration and potential dose of airborne nanoparticles.” • “….his thorough understanding on particle charging and transport under electric field led him to develop a new experimental technique to produce nanocomposite particles….” • “..has worked tirelessly to encourage young researchers to enter this new exciting field…”
