  1. NA62 straw tracker readout status GeorgiosKonstantinou

  2. NA62 straw tracker data flow Front end boards Straw readout board TEL62

  3. Front end to SRB • Successful testing for 2.5 m cable, 800 Mbps of data readout • Finalizing commands and increasing reliability of the link (firmware) Front end boards Straw readout board

  4. SRB to TEL62 • Link: Testing with different cable lengths and properties: -Twisted pair Ethernet cable vs optical link (cost, radiation hardness) -Electronic noise (office/lab, building renovation) -Different grounds -Mezzanine card TEL62 Straw readout board

  5. SRB to TEL62 • Cable testing: • Setting: Use of National Semiconductors DS92LV3241/DS92LV3242 ~ 2.5 GbpsSERialiser-DESerialiser with DE0-nano Cyclone IV FPGA test boards. • Different lengths of STP-UTP cables. • Different pre-emphasis choices.

  6. SRB to TEL62 • Why unshielded? - possibility of radiation hard materials - CERN store • Disruption Factors • Drilling! • Cable spatial distribution • Heavy electronics on operation within 1m from the cable • Compared to better results before drilling and in the office (Andrea Villar’s measurements)

  7. Mezzanine Card • 12 links (extensive (~30) Gbps possibility), unified on board FPGA SERDES chips, standard (or controlled) on board pre-emphasis and cable equalisation circuitry. • Design starting soon (after SRB link firmware is finalized)

  8. The End Thank you, Questions?
