Health Information Technology Professional (HIT Pro™) • The HIT Pro competency exam will confirm that your experience and skills are ready to meet the nation’s need for health information technology workers. As the healthcare industry transitions to electronic health records (EHRs), HIT Pros show a commitment to their profession and their career. They are eager to demonstrate competency in this evolving field and are excited to work on the leading edge of health IT. • The future of health IT starts with the HIT Pro competency exam. For a limited time, the exam is free to U.S. citizens who have completed a Workforce Development non-degree training program or to professionals with relevant experience or other training.

  4. What can I do? • Understand the big picture in Healthcare. • Relate Biomed to the big picture. • Feel comfortable in the presence of IT workers. • Know the acronyms which are thrown around so carelessly.

  5. The six exams are: • Clinician/Practitioner Consultant • Implementation Manager • Implementation Support Specialist • Practice Workflow & Information Management Redesign Specialist • Technical/Software Support Staff • Trainer

  6. The HIT Pro™ exams assess the competency of health IT professionals to: • Assess workflows • Select hardware and software • Work with vendors • Install and test systems • Diagnose IT problems • Train practice staff on systems

  7. Exam Duration, Composition, and Scoring • All HIT Pro™exams consist of 125 multiple choice questions, with an exam duration time of 3 hours (180 minutes).
