  2. Using Dangling Modifiers? • Consider this sentence: • Having finished the assignment, Jill turned on the TV. • "Having finished" states an action but does not name the doer of that action • Jill must be the subject of the clause

  3. Incorrect Usage • Incorrect use: Having finished the assignment, the TV turned on. • It is wrong because the TV cannot turn itself on, a subject has to be doing the action.
