  1. ACADEMIC LIBRARIES WILL CHANGE IN SIGNIFICANT WAYS AS A RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC [OPINION] The coronavirus pandemic has taught every business sector many things. And the academic libraries aren’t behind in this situation. So, let’s see how the academic libraries will change with the “new normal.” We now know that print collection is no longer the need of the hour. So, it is vital that the libraries undertake the option of mass digitization. The library should spend money on developing more electronic collections. As the course goes online, the Customer Services in Libraries should take extra efforts in providing copyright educations. And they should also encourage the authors to prefer a creative commons license, so there is more flexibility during the conversion of the collection. Now, the libraries will require offering self-service and touch-less interactions, such as self-checkout or curbside pickup. Librarians can help the faculty to co-teach, offer research consultation, or even develop course content. The coronavirus pandemic is undoubtedly a good time to advocate for open research and open data in federal grants to provide the faculties with proper knowledge and offer them with publication rights. Libraries need to think about their website more now than ever because the website is the primary path of interaction. AI technologies can be introduced to monitor social distancing, offer tailored search results, and to integrate the library. Libraries may encourage the students to carry their own devices instead of using public technology. uniquelibrary.com
