To portray in simple words, they are the ones who bury the seeds of development, and their stories have now reached the ears of the common man. IAS officers in India, these unstoppable humans have a clear agenda of making sure that our nation’s glory reaches epitome and they understand the power of collaboration and unification. Top 10 Real-Life Civil Servants in India Prashant Nair A 2007 UPSC pass out IAS officer in India currently serving as Collector, Kozhikode understands the power of social media and can elicit the great energy out of the people itself. Narendra Kumar IPS officer Narendra Kumar started his career in Bihar before joining office at Morena, Madhya Pradesh. He was a fierce crusader against illegal mining activities in India and spent a large part of his life fighting the mining mafia’s. Indifferent about his own life and safety, this man was martyred by members of the mafia when he stood in front of a speeding tractor allegedly carrying illegal stones. When he saw the tractor carrying illegal mine stones, he tried to stop it, and when the driver did not stop he stood in front of the tractor to stop it when the driver ran over him. Mr Narendra Kumar we will never forget you or your good work for the nation. Ajit Kumar Doval Already a name in the paparazzi, famous for his laudable work during his tenure as an IPS officer. He was actively involved in anti-insurgency operations in Kerala and Punjab. He has the experience of being involved in the termination of all 15 hijackings of Indian Airlines aircraft from 1971–1999. Ajit Doval managed to turn militants and persuade them to assist Indian forces against the terrorists. He also stayed in Pakistan as an undercover agent in a high-risk assignment. He later joined the intelligence bureau and is currently holding the position of National Security Adviser to PM Narendra Modi.   3. B. Chandrakala is a member of Indian Administrative Services and currently serving as District Magistrate of Bulandshahr, UP, she is an IAS officer of 2008 batch of UP Cadre. She is a strong officer taking a stand against corruption and illegal practices. A warrior against the corrupt officials in the police department, B. Chandrakala never hesitates in publicly exposing those people who are not doing justice to their jobs. Thanks to her intervention, three corrupt contractors were booked in Uttar Pradesh. She also actively involved herself in matters related to child welfare and women empowerment. Her joining the civil services at a young age of 23 has become a classic example for all women aspirants and she stands firm under the banner of unhindered determination and courage. Satyendra Dubey A man with a will strong as a wall, his story is well known amongst each and every one of us. Satyendra Dubey stood tall against the plague of corruption engulfing our country. he was Project Director in the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at Koderma in Jharkhand where he was working on the Golden Quadrilateral Project. He showed tremendous resilience and extraordinary courage in exposing corrupt practices in the engineering sector. As Indian Engineering Service (IES) officer he was a trouble for all the illegal activists and on 27th November 2003, he was shot dead in Gaya and the country lost yet another diligent and competent officer. Armstrong Pame A miracle man as the people claim is the 5th IAS officer from the Zeliangrong community (consisting of Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei Naga tribes.) An empath by nature Mr. Armstrong, young and enthusiastic, took on the task of improving the lives of the people in Manipur. He along with the common people was successful in building a 100 km long road in a remote hill of Manipur without government’s help. He used up his own savings and turned up to people via social media and guess what, humanity took over and people helped Armstrong build the road that would link Manipur with Nagaland and Assam. U. Sagayam A man on the move, U Sagayam has been transferred over 20 times in his 20 years of a career fighting against corruption wherever he goes. This civil service officer’s extensive research on illegal granite-mining in Madurai led to charges against many known politicians and businessmen. He also confiscated over 5,000 subsidized gas cylinders intended for domestic use which were being illegally used by restaurants. Sagayam, whose office door bears a sign reading “Reject bribes, hold your head high” has repeatedly antagonized influential politicians and their supporters in Tamil Nadu. 3/4

Udhayachandran, a fellow IAS officer in India who has known Sagayam for years. Ashok Khemka Khemka, 1991 UPSC batch pass out of the Haryana Cadre was repeatedly transferred by the various state governments after he allegedly exposed various corrupt deals. He is best known for cancelling the mutation of Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra’s illegal land deal in Gurgaon. When posted at the Haryana Seeds Development Corporation (HSDC) he exposed irregularities related to the sale of wheat seeds in the state. His transfer rate of 45 shows his immense vendetta against political blasphemy. V. V. Lakshminarayana A man known for his impactful speeches, his words have the power to move the dignity of the corrupt. He was the protagonist in the Satyam scandal, Gali Janardhana Reddy’s illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Company, Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy‘s disproportionate assets case and Sohrabuddin Sheikh’s fake encounter case. He is also known for arresting Jagan Mohan Reddy. He is conferred with the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award by the Maharashtra State Minority Commission for maintaining peace & harmony in places where he worked in Maharashtra. Rashmi V Mahesh A prodigal product of the UPSC examination, she has been transferred over 20 times in her 18years of experience. After taking charge as the executive director of the Karnataka Education Authority (KEA) in 2011, she stepped on the toes of the medical and engineering college lobbies by putting a stop to seat blocking and irregularities in seat distribution. She gave many college management panels a run for their money as she completely stopped the misuse of government seats.
