  2. What Is a Heat Pump? A heat pump is a device that uses electricity to transfer energy from one place to another. They are often used in heating applications, but can also be found in refrigeration systems as well. and cooling There are two types of heat pumps: Air-source heat pumps Geothermal heat pumps ● ●

  3. How does a heat pump work? A heat pump system works in the opposite way as a refrigerator. A fridge transfers heat out of its interior, but a heat pumps transfers heat to its interior. Heat pumps take advantage of the "thermal storehouse" that is our atmosphere.

  4. When running, an air source heat pump takes in warm air from outside and compresses it until it is very hot. This compressed air is then passed through a coil called the evaporator. The evaporator contains refrigerant which is an amazing substance that can absorb a lot of heat but releases it fairly quickly when needed.

  5. The refrigerant continues to absorb heat as it passes over another set of coils called an expansion valve releases some of this heat back into the air that is being blown outside. which

  6. Geothermal heat pumps are similar to conventional heat pumps, but instead of using the outside air as its energy source it uses water or groundwater that is between four and six feet below the earth's surface. This heat is then passed evaporator coil to cool it down so it can transfer the warmth inside your home. through an

  7. Why Should I Want One? Heat pump system are very efficient at providing heating and cooling to your home. They also consume less energy than conventional methods because they can transfer heat using the thermal storehouse that is our atmosphere. This means that if its summer, you're not only saving on gas bills; you're helping combat global warming by reducing power plant emissions!
