  2. The Challenge • Low income area • Neighborhood neglected and rundown • New road construction created empty homes and businesses • Library full of bored kids

  3. The Idea Create a Makerspace learning environment on the wasteland outside the library.

  4. What is the plan? Start small but think big. Short term plan from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Choose a manageable plot size to begin with. Create a small garden to grow flowers and vegetables. Include an artist’s corner.

  5. What does it need? Art Supplies Storage Tools

  6. How? • Library sponsorship • Donations and Grants from Local Businesses • Volunteers • Interest from the local community • Fees

  8. Recycle!! Focus on using recycled materials

  9. Long Term Goals • Ultimately a Community park • Benches and a playground • Artist’s Walkway
