OBJECTIVE • Your goal: • At the end of class on Friday, you should be able to hand in a three paragraph essay following the directions on the final page of your “SuperCroc” packet. • You must also be able to show me: • The completed “Tool-Kit” including the restated prompt and underlined key words • Your graphic organizer • The entire packet, including the essay, is due Friday (Monday for Period 1) at the beginning of class!

  2. WRITING ASSIGNMENT • You are going to write an explanatory essay about unusual “monsters” from the animal world. You must include one example from the ancient world and one from modern times!

  3. Test-Taker’s Toolkit ANALYSING THE PROMPT: • Read the prompt carefully. • Circle key words in the prompt • Restate the prompt in your own words: that means you need to rewrite the prompt in your own words on the lines provided!

  4. Test-Taker’s Toolkit PLAN YOUR RESPONSE: • Indentify examples – Use the graphic organizer we are going to go over in a moment OR a comparison chart like the one in the packet • Organize your information – • PARAGRAPH 1: introduce the animals you are talking about • PARAGRAPH 2: describe the animal from history • PARAGRAPH 3: describe the animal from modern times
