  1. iEARN Project: Narnia and C.S Lewis "The Voyage of The Dawn Treader" Power point Presentation By: Anab Sundus

  2. The Chronicles Of Narnia "The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader" Character Sketch: Reepicheep

  3. Reepicheep is a fictional character from C.S. Lewis's "Chronicles Of Narnia" series. He appears in Prince Caspian, The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader and The Last Battle. Reepicheep was actually a mouse who could stand on its hind legs and almost two feet high.He had a shrill voice.A thin band of gold passed around his head under one ear and over the other and in this was stuck a long crismon feather. His fur was very dark and almost black, the effect was bold and striking. He used to carry a sword as long as his tail.

  4. BACKGROUND: In the "Prince Caspian", Reepicheep was the leader of eleven mice whohelped Caspian in winning the battle of Beruna. They all were very braveand out standing. In the very battle Reepicheep lost his tail and forhim his tail was a sign of "honour and glory of the mouse". Aslan helpedin restoring Reepicheep's tail not for the sake of his honour but forthe love people had for Reepicheep.

  5. Reepicheep: In the Voyage Of the Dawn Treader, Reepicheep plays a very important role.Despite his size he was called "the most valiant of all the Talking Beasts of Narnia" and he was also called the Chief Mouse. He was pugnacious and quick to defend any affront to his honor. He was a brave mouse and he won an undying glory in the second battle of Beruna. He had great self respect and he was couragious, strong willed, loyal and determined.Lucy and Edmund had great love for him.Every one respected him as he was as brave as a lion. "Reepicheep was a character of his words."

  6. In the Voyage Of Dawn Treader, Reepicheep accompanines Prince Caspian on his voyage in the hope of finding seven lords of Narnia. He believed it is possible to sail to the end of the world because a Dryad had spoken a prophecy over Reepicheep's cradle that: Where sky and water meet, Where the waves grow sweet, Doubt not, Reepicheep, To find all you seek, There is the utter East.

  7. LONE ISLANDS: When the company lands on the Lone Islands, Reepicheep and the others are captured by slavers and remain imprisoned until Caspian abolishes the slave trade on the Lone Islands the next day.It is here we find him implaceable. He went on condamining the head of the slave merchant, Purg. He even chalenges Purg to fight a battle, " Give me my sword and free my paws if you dare."

  8. DRAGON ISLAND: Eustace Scrubb was very stubborn child and a bit bully too. During the journey, Reepicheep teaches Eustace about honour, courage and loyality, even though at the start of their relationship Eustace treats Reepicheep with great disrespect. Reepicheep was kind hearted and considerade that he does his best to comfort Eustase when he was turned into a Drgaon, even though Eustace had treated Reepicheep with great dis respect in the beginning od the Voyage.

  9. SEA MONSTER: When they are attacked by a sea monster, Reepicheep astounds the company by telling them not to fight. It is uncharacteristic of the Mouse to suggest not fighting, but he sees that the only way to escape the monster is to push its coils off the ship. So, Reepicheep was very wise and could take very unlikely decisions according to the situation.

  10. DEATH WATER ISLAND: After they discover the island whose water turns objects to gold and one of the seven lords who now rests in the bottom as a gold statue, Reepicheep suggests calling it "Deathwater Island."This shows that he had no wish for material gains. For him, honour was everything.

  11. THE ISLAND OF VOICES: Later when they land on the island of the Duffers, the others are pondering how to avoid the invisible people i.e. Dufflepuds when Reepicheep argues that it is only honorable to meet them boldly.

  12. THE DARK ISLAND: When they reach at a very dark place even Prince Caspian hesitates in moving forward. But, it is at the Reepicheep's insistance that Caspian orders the Dawn Treader to enter the mist surrounding the Dark Island. For, he believes it a dishonour to cover such a long distance and then turning back due to dark.

  13. RAMANDU'S COUNTRY: When they finally reach Ramandu's country and find the last three Narnian lords in an enchanted sleep, Reepicheep is the first to volunteer to spend the night there and keep guard. When Ramandu tells them that in order to break the enchantment they must sail to the World's End and leave one of their number behind, Reepicheep says, "That is my heart's desire." Reepicheep is most loveable character

  14. EASTERN EDGE OF THE WORLD: Near the Eastern edge of the world, Reepicheep sets forth from the Dawn Treader in a small row boat and disappears along with his boat and since that moment no one can truly claim to have seen Reepicheep, the Mouse. But in the end C.S.Lewis implies that Reepicheep did reach Aslan's country.

  15. Reepicheep is one the most memorable and beloved characters in the Chronicles. Lewis writes "his mind was full of forlorn hopes, death-or-glory charges, and last stands".The fearlessness of Reepicheep makes him an excellent companion aboard the Dawn Treader. Reepicheep's hunger for daring deeds leads him to the greatest adventure of all. At most of the occasions it is Reepicheep who takes the initiatives and motivates human beings to take the initiatives. Thus, he is actually the motivating force that makes possible the under taking of different ventures.

  16. The presentation end with the unforgetable words by Reepicheep which shows his undeeatable persiverance: "While I can, I sail east in the Dawn Treader. When she fails me, I paddle east in my coracle. When she sinks, I shall swim east with my four paws. And when I can swim no longer, if I have not reached Aslan's country, or shot over the edge of the world in some vast cataract, I shall sink with my nose to the sunrise and Peepiceek will be head of the talking mice in Narnia".
