  2. Once upon a time there was a poor cobbler named Tobias. He lived in the town of Mistden near The Great Plains. Every day he would open up his shop in the hopes of something new and exciting to change the same old’ drab of life he had come to know. His craft was well made and he took pride in his work, but this only brought him so much pleasure.

  3. It was time for Tobias to leave his town, his memories, and the life he known behind. He did not know where he was going, but he knew that he must do this for himself. He was to set east, towards Fairport after crossing The Great Plains. Tobias was in search of a better life and the prospect of Wellmist was very enticing. He packed up all of the worldly possessions that he could carry on his faithful steed, Brelaróf.

  5. By the time Tobias had reached the port 8 weeks had passed. He was tired and was in search of an inn to retire in. In the morning he would catch the ferry across Mirror Lake to Wellmist. There was nothing else important for him here.

  6. Tobias woke up in the Riftwood Inn at 6 in the morning, the boat was the leave within the hour for Wellmist. Upon boarding the ship, The Passage, Tobias immediately caught the glance of an elderly man in a blue cloak. A storm quickly swept through the area and made the ship toss and turn. During the storm the old man was thrown from the ship over the edge into the frigid waters. Without hesitation, Tobias jumped out to save him. Mirror Lake

  7. Having towed the old man to the safety banks of Wellmist, Tobias was much relieved to find that he was still alive, barely. The old man woke up and coughed up some water, composed himself and spoke with a raspy old voice: “I am forever indebted to you, my friend.” And with this the old man extended his reach and held out a glowing emerald ring. Tobias accepted his gift, they nodded and parted ways.

  8. Tobias did not know what to make of the ring at first, something about it seemed otherworldly, as if there was a divine presence. But for now there were other pressing issues. Wellmist was not what he expected, it was a deserted ghost town. Puzzled and confused he turned to the only person in site. A man was sitting on a chair near where the boat had docked. “What has happened here?”, asked Tobias. The man explained that the city had been under attack by the army of Vertholt. Without a thought Tobias decided he was going to investigate what was happening to the south. He was not happy to have come so far for so little.

  10. Right before Tobias got to the outskirts of Vertholt, the ring started to glow and shake in his pocket. He put it on as if out of instinct. The ring pulled his arm upwards and bolts of lightning shot from the palm of his hand and set a massive tree on fire. This was no ordinary ring!

  11. Tobias knew what he would do with his new found power, he would avenge the fallen people of Wellmist. Tobias was able to reach the castle located in the center of town and meet with the king. The king explained that he was fooled by an old man and had stolen the king’s most prized possession, an emerald ring of great power along with much of his treasure. He had sent his troops to Wellmist in hopes of finding him, and destroyed the town in the search. Tobias knew that they had just missed the old man and what ring he was speaking of. The king was very skeptical of Tobias’s business.

  12. Tobias knew that he must leave the town at once, he could not go home, having introduced himself as Tobias of Mistden. He feared the king would go plunder his home town as well or find out he had the ring, but he was not sure. A stranger called to Tobias from the shadows in the middle of the city and told him that he knew where the old man had hidden the treasure that the king searched for. Right outside of the small town of Westgate there was a secret entrance which only could be opened by the ring. Why this stranger gave him this hint was beyond him but he had nothing to lose. “Outside of Westgate you shall find a secret entrance only the ring can open.”

  14. Tobias, along with his trusty horse Brelaróf, traveled through the mountains as fast as they could in hopes of finding this hidden treasure. Halfway through the mountains Tobias could hear the sound of horse steps chasing. He tried to ride as fast as he could but to no avail. The king had caught up to him! He was alone, facing the king of Vertholt, why he was without his men baffled Tobias. But without hesitation Tobias slipped the ring on. With this the king looked at Tobias and was shocked, literally.

  16. Having escaped his pursuers Tobias knew that he could not turn back and needed to get to Westgate, find the treasure and leave as fast as he could before more men got to him. He had made it to Westgate unharmed. He felt bad about what he done in the mountains, but he had no choice. Having found the entrance the stranger in the shadows had told him about, he took the emerald ring out of his pocket and inserted it into a small ring sized hole located on the outside of the doorway.

  17. Tobias entered the room to find riches beyond his wildest dreams. He would be the richest person in the entire world, but under good conscience he couldn’t. Knowing all the problems that had come from this treasure he that he could not take it in good faith. He put the ring on once more, raised his arm, and destroyed the gold.

  18. Tobias fled Westgate and returned to his home town never to see the men of Vertholt. He had enough of adventure to last him a lifetime. He buried the ring miles outside of Mistden and never told a soul. He was happy to be back to his hammer, his thread, and his shoes.
