  4. Uppercase & Lowercase Alphabets • Who can tell me what an uppercase letter is? Is an uppercase letter “A” look like this, “a” or “A”? • Who can tell me what a lowercase letter is? Does it look like this, “B” or “b”? • Uppercase means the letter is big, such as “B” • Lowercase means the letter is small, such as “b”

How do we use uppercase letters? • One way to use uppercase letters is in our name. • An uppercase letter is used for the first letter of our first name, middle name, and last name. • Example: My name is KimiWainani Nagahisa • Notice how Kimi has a uppercase K in the beginning (point to the uppercase K), so does my middle name, and last name.

  7. What is your name? My name is spelled: Do you know how to spell you first name? Lets practice! (hand out customized name worksheets to students so they can trace their names, beginning with the capital letter of their first name)
