Status updates supported by Sendible include: your Facebook Wall, Facebook Page, and other Social Media sites like Twitter and Linkedin.

  13. Pages vs. Groups

  14. Pages • Allow real organizations, businesses, celebrities and brands to communicate broadly with people who like them. • Pages may only be created and managed by official representatives.

  15. Pages • Audience • Anyone can like a Page to become connected with it and get News Feed updates. • No limit to how many people can like a Page

  16. Pages • Privacy • Page information and posts are public and generally available to everyone on Facebook.

  17. Pages • Communication • Page admins can share posts under the Page’s name. • Page posts appear in the News Feed of people who like the Page. • Page admins can also create customized tabs for their Pages and check Page Insights to track the Page’s growth and activity.

  18. Page Admin • Pages managed by admins who have personal Facebook profiles. • Pages are not separate Facebook accounts and do not have separate login information from your profile. • May add other admins to help manage the Page. • People who choose to connect to your Page won't be able to see that you are the Page admin or have any access to your personal account.

  19. Page Admins • Post status updates on the Wall with Page’s Identity—not Admin’s profile identity • Edit the Page • Add or delete Admins • All or nothing—no way to limit Admin’s access and functionality

  20. Groups • Closedspace for small groups of people to communicate about shared interests. • Groups can be created by anyone.

  21. Groups • Privacy • In addition to an open setting, more privacy settings are available for groups. • In secret and closed groups, posts are only visible to group members.

  22. Groups • Audience • Group members must be approved or added by other members. • When a group reaches a certain size, some features are limited. • The most useful groups tend to be the ones you create with small groups of people you know.

  23. Groups • Communication • Members receive notifications by default when any member posts in the group. • Group members can participate in chats, upload photos to shared albums, collaborate on group docs, and invite all members to group events.

  25. Implementation Strategies/Considerations

  26. Content Moderation Administration Goals Communication Strategy Promotion

  27. Goals • Encourage respectful and positive contributions • Identify and discourage inappropriate content

  28. Content Management • Don't allow threatening or offensive content posted by fans or members to remain on the page or group. • Do consider reporting such content to Facebook.

  29. Content Moderation • Content moderation policy • Example: Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church • Public disclaimer • “General Information” section of the “Info” tab on the congregation’s Facebook Page • Begin the “General Information” section with upbeat information about your congregation, then add the disclaimer farther down in the section

  30. UUA Disclaimer The UUA welcomes all people to contribute to conversations on this page and to share content directly related to Unitarian Universalism. Wall posts, comments, photos, and other content posted on this page are expected to be relevant and respectful. The UUA has the right to delete any inappropriate content from this page, including but not limited to: irrelevant content, redundant content, hateful content, malicious content, uncivil or disrespectful content, attacks or complaints against an individual, financial solicitations, endorsements of a political candidate or party, and content that violates Facebook’s terms of use, code of conduct, or other policies. Content that violates Facebook’s policies may also be reported.

  31. Choosing an Admin • Does this person show the ability to be social online? • Does this person show a genuine interest in connecting with our clients/customers? • Can I trust this person to be professional and respectful at all times? • Do people naturally gravitate toward this person? • Will this person actively contribute new ideas to grow the page and make it better each day?

  32. Expand Facebook Team • Assign multiple Admins to your page. • Optimize time and effort—divide and conquer • Roles and responsibilities align with Admins’ skills and strengths

  33. Communication Strategy • How often will you post updates to your page? • What will you post about? • When will you use text-only versus links? • Will you use third-party content to add value? • Will you mix up the media and use video, audio, photos?

  34. Assign Roles & Document Them • Based on kind of content… • Post third-party articles • Post event information • Upload videos, photos • Answer questions, respond to posts • Tasks can be scheduled throughout week

  35. Adding Content • Do add new content and respond to questions on a regular basis, so that visitors know your congregation is active. • Do take advantage of the administrative features, by answering questions posted on your wall, creating events, uploading videos, and adding other content that is relevant to congregants and visitors.

  36. Facebook = Public Document • Do treat your Facebook page or group as a public document. • Visitors as well as congregants will see it. • Offer information that is relevant to visitors, including contact information, phone number, service times, and website address. • Don't post private information on your Facebook page or group. If you wouldn't post it on your congregation's website, don't post it on Facebook.

  37. Photos • Do upload photos of your congregation. • Don't upload photos of children without permission from their guardian(s). • For more information, read these permissions guidelines for photography and videography at congregational events.

  38. Banner Images • Do keep track of the photographs that appear in the banner at the top of your congregation's Facebook page. • Make sure the images are attractive and representative of your congregation. • As you upload new photos to the page, the banner updates automatically. • If needed, administrators can remove photos from the banner by clicking on the top right corner of the photo.

  39. Promotion • Do tell congregants that the congregation has a page or group, so that they can "like" the page or "join" the group. • Do encourage fans or members to participate by writing on the wall, uploading photos, and answering questions on the discussion board.  • Do have fun with your page or group and use it to share the spirit of your congregation.
