  1. Hiroyuki Motozuka, Panasonic Corporation Aggregation based channel bonding Authors: • Date: 2016-01-18

  2. Hiroyuki Motozuka, Panasonic Corporation Abstract • Channel bonding framework for NG60 has been proposed in [1]. The framework includes contiguous (wideband) bonding mode and carrier (channel) aggregation mode. • In this presentation, we propose an abstract carrier aggregation scheme and a text proposal of carrier aggregation for 11ay SFD [2]. 3. Hiroyuki Motozuka, Panasonic Corporation Wideband channel bonding and aggregation for 11ay • Wideband channel bonding (CB) • Increase throughput using higher sampling rate • Channel aggregation (CA) • Simultaneous transmission on multiple channels • Flexible channel usage (-> see next slide) • We recommend to enable both modes. 3.52 GHz f ch1 ch2 1.76 GHz 1.76 GHz f ch1 ch2

  4. Hiroyuki Motozuka, Panasonic Corporation Consideration on CA:contiguous and non-contiguous channels • CA on contiguous channel • CA on non-contiguous channel • We suggest 11ay to enable both channel occupation schemes. 1.76 GHz 1.76 GHz f ch1 ch2 1.76 GHz 1.76 GHz f ch1 ch3

  5. Hiroyuki Motozuka, Panasonic Corporation Challenge of aggregation:adjacent channel interference (ACI) • In contiguous channel aggregation, Adjacent Channel Interference (ACI) is caused due to PA non-linearity. • We conducted simulation to evaluate the impact on PA back-off and transmit EVM. PA non-linearity model is based on [3].[3] 11-09/0296r16 TGad Evaluation Methodology

  6. Hiroyuki Motozuka, Panasonic Corporation Simulation results • To achieve same EVM level, additional PA back-off of 1.0dB is required for 16QAM, 3-channel CA. • For QPSK, BO is limited by Tx mask, rather than EVM. • Though additional 1dB PA back-off is required, we suggest not to rule out contiguous CA, considering its benefits.

  7. Hiroyuki Motozuka, Panasonic Corporation Conclusion • We propose to enable contiguous and non-contiguous channel aggregation for 11ay.

  9. Hiroyuki Motozuka, Panasonic Corporation Straw Poll • Do you agree to insert the following in section 6.1 of the SFD • “The 11ay specification shall support contiguous and non-contiguous channel aggregation of at least two 2.16GHz channels.“

  10. Hiroyuki Motozuka, Panasonic Corporation Motion • Instruct the editor to insert the following in section 6.1 of the SFD • “The 11ay specification shall support contiguous and non-contiguous channel aggregation of at least two 2.16GHzchannels.“
