  1. Get Set...Goals Philippians 3:12-14

  2. Philippians 3:12-15 (NIV) Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. [13] Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, [14] I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

  3. Three Steps on How to set Meaningful Goals • Pray for direction. Proverbs 1:5 Let the wise listen and add to their learning and let the discerning get guidance. God knows what lies in the future. Psalm 139:16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

  4. Pray for God to give you a God given visions and God given goals to match that visions.  When God has given you a vision, the visions never changes, but the plans to accomplish that visions may change

  5. Proverbs 16:1,9 1 Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word. 9 We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it. Proverbs 19:21  Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

  6. Acts 16:6-7 Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. [7] After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. Pray for directions: Ask God for what he wants you to do. Trust god to show you how He wants you to do.

  7. Proverbs 3:5-7 (NIV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; [6] in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. [7] Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.

  8. Guidelines for Setting Goals 1. Will it  get me to where I want to go, which is for a deeper and more intimate relationship with God and accomplish what God wants me to do. 2. Will it make somebody successful

  9. Guidelines for Setting Goals 3. Do I have to violate a spiritual principle? 4. Will it fulfil Gods plan for my life.

  10. Three Steps on How to set Meaningful Goals 2. Prepare for Actions Proverbs 3:12-14 ...but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. [13]...But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, [14] I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

  11. Luke 19:3-4 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him for He is going to pass that way. Many people doesn't succeed in life because they really don't know what they want in their life.

  12. Three Steps on How to set Meaningful Goals 3. Plan for opposition.  A. You  are always going to face foes.  Psalm 69:18 Come near and rescue me, deliver me because of my foes. 1 Corinthians 16:9 For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.

  13. A blind man's worlds is bounded by the limit of his touch, and an ignorant man’s  by the limit of his knowledge, a great man's  world by the limit of his visions.  (Anonymous)

  14. B. You are going to face failures OnlyJesus has ever reached every goal that He had set.  Failures never have to fail or never have to be final.
