  2. Red chilli is the most popular spice across India. Indians love spicy food and so their favorite spice is red chilli on any given day. It is widely known for the smoky flavor and the orange-red hue to add to any dish. Some chillies are red mild spicy and some are very spicy. Did you know? India produces at least ten types of chillies. Vasant Masala has 3 different chilli powders and all of them are of prime quality. But, of all, Vasant’s Perfect Chilli Power is a best seller. 3. As the temperatures get high, Indian households start the preparations for making pickles. Every summer, Indians invest their time in making delicious homemade pickles and use them throughout the year with Satvik dishes like Khichdi and Dal-Chawal (Rice with Indian curry). Pickles are served alongside savory dishes as an accompaniment to make it more flavorful. People can spice it up the way they like. However, a typical Indian pickle is made tangy by adding jaggery to it instead of sugar. Red chilli pickleis one of the famous pickles that Indians savor every summer. It’s a combination dish using oil, ground spice, fresh red chillies, and jaggery. However, Indian pickle is not limited to just red chillies. Indian households have expertise in making mango pickle, garlic pickle, carrot pickle, gumberry pickle, green chilli pickle, and an unimaginable variety!

  4. Types of Pickles • The first type of pickle is the instant pickle. Here, you gather the ingredients, mix them, roast, sauteand savor. • The second type is the one that can be stored. Since this type can be stored, these pickles have a shelf life of more than a year; but for that, they should be stored properly. The only difference between instant pickles and stored ones is the quantity of oil and natural preservatives. The ideal choice for storing pickles is in glass containers or porcelain pots.

  5. Red Chilli Pickle Recipe Ingredients: • Red Chili - 8pcs • Oil - 3 tbsp • Black Pepper - 10 pcs • Asafoetida - 1 tbsp • Kasuri Methi - 150 gm • Mustard Seeds - 2 tbsp • Fenugreek Seeds - 1 tbsp • Dry Dates - 4-5 pcs • Red Chili Powder - 1 tbsp • Kashmiri Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp • Lemon Juice - 1 tbsp • Salt - 1 tsp • Jaggery - 200 gm

  6. Recipe • It is very easy to make pickle. It is not complicated or messy as you think it is. You have to start with carefully tempering all the spices and herbs together in a way that it does not burn. Therefore, keep your flame medium-high. Once the tempering is ready, add red chilli and jaggery to it. Make sure the jaggery is cut into fine pieces so that it melts fast. Within some time, the herbs and spices will start releasing their flavors, making the pickle taste even better. • Once the mixture cools down, your chilli pickle is ready! Now store it in a glass container or a porcelain pot and enjoy it as an accompaniment with any dish you like.
