Economic Troubles • Economic problems have arouse in America which cause a recession. • These problems are affecting American’s because it causes: • Debts • Foreclosure • Industry failure • Unemployment • Economic troubles that affected ancient Rome to their collapse included: • Inflation • Tax increase • Debt • Taxes increase, which eventually lead to salaries been paid in food and clothing and taxes were collected in fruits and vegetables.

  3. U.S.A’s Economy • America’s economy is the largest in the world. • The current state of America’s economy is over 13.6 trillion dollar debt. • Unemployment rate is at a 75 year record high 8.1%.

  4. Rome’s Economy • The early economy was largely dependent on slave labor, and slaves constituted around 20 percent of the population. • The government also had to pay off many debts in order to pay for public construction, maintenance of roads and the Army.

  5. Similarities Between Economies • Similarities between the Roman and U.S economies include; debts, inflation and tax increase. • Also both countries were in control of national power.

  6. Rome’s Decline • Economic problems was one of many factors that lead to the decline of Rome. • Vast trade routes stopped because of the danger of traveling. • Small farmers eventually died out because of the economic boost that was lost.

  7. Obama’s Economic Plan • Stimulus Package • Cost – 800 Billion Dollars • Bailout variety of companies: • Auto Industry • Banks • Ect…

  8. Is U.S.A following Rome’s footsteps? • I feel that U.S.A is not following Rome’s footsteps in the decline in our country. • Evidence which I based my decision on include; • Experience- from the Great Depression • Advancement in technology.

  9. How Are/Can We Be Different From Them? • America is different from Ancient Rome because of the same reasons why I believe we are not following their footsteps.
