  1. McMath Cheerleading Parent Information Meeting Welcome Parents and Students! PLEASE SIGN IN February 19th, 2014

Applications -Applications should be completed and turned in by THIS FRIDAY to Coach Hauser in Room A-21. -Once a student has applied, turned in all forms signed (with the exception of report card and physical), and has paid the $15 clinic fee, they will automatically be on the list for tryouts. - Please include the name and shirt size of your student on the check or on a note if paying in cash for the cheer clinic.

  3. Squad Positions • - Cheerleaders: Based on size and skill girls will be placed in formations and stunt groups (flyers, bases, and back spots).Please notify the coach if you are in competitive cheer and already know a position well or can tumble. • - Mascot: Would like 1-2 mascots this year. Students must attend most practices and all games as the mascot, as well as other school functions. Mascot will sometimes have functions without cheerleaders. Must attend clinic. • - Managers: Need 2-3responsible students. Will have many duties, including making signs, attending all games and practices, and staying after school at times. Must make good grades and be very dependable. May not be cheerleaders. Do not need to attend cheer clinic. • **Note: No one will be disqualified at tryouts on basis of skill. Students will be chosen on basis of work ethic, responsibility, character, team work and cooperation, teacher recommendations, and principal and counselor approval.

  4. What is the next step? Cheer Clinic • March 3-5, 3:30-4:45pm in Gold Gym • Mandatory for all cheerleaders and mascot applicants. Manager positions do not have to attend. • Applicants will go over cheer expectations, motions, jumps, and basic level stunts. • They will learn two chants for tryouts and a short dance. • $15 fee counts towards part of their cheer costs, as well as a cheer clinic shirt, which will also be one of their practice shirts during the season if they make the team. (The $15 fee is non-refundable.)

  5. Cheer Clinic Attire -T-Shirts: Students will receive their shirts for the clinic on the first day. -Shorts (not too short or too tight). -NO JEWELRY or gum. -Tennis shoes are required. -Hair up in a pony tail with all hair pinned back.

  6. Tryouts -Applications should be completed and turned in by THIS FRIDAY to Coach Hauser in Room A-11. -Once a student has applied, turned in all forms signed, and has paid the $15 clinic fee, they will automatically be on the list for tryouts. -Tryouts will be the day after the cheer clinic ends, March 6, from 3:30-5pm. Everything the girls will do at tryouts they will have learned at the clinic. -The team list will be posted outside Coach Hauser’s room, A-11, on March 7 at 3:20pm, as well as on our MMS cheerleading webpage. Parents will also receive an email using the address given.

  7. Squad Time Commitments -Practices -Cheer Camp–Summer 2014 -Games -Pep-Rallies -School Functions -Community Events -Fundraisers

  8. Parent & Cheerleader Commitments • Finances • Transportation and promptness • Communication: Website and email • Food • Fundraisers and school events • Pictures

School Involvement • - Cheerleaders, mascots, and managers may participate in other activities, sports, and groups at MMS. • Examples: Band, Orchestra, Volleyball, Basketball, Track, Cross Country, Academic UIL, Theater, Choir • - The cheer coach tries to plan around other sports, etc., to the best of her ability. Please note that cheerleaders can still be on the squad but cannot cheer games during basketball season if they make the basketball team. • -All school activities coinciding with cheer events will be excused, however, it is up to the squad member to communicate with the coach prior to their absence and make up what they may have missed.

  10. Financial Responsibilities -$15 Cheer Clinic (includes shirt) -$125 UCA Cheer Camp (3 days) -$220 Bow to Toe Uniform (shell, skirt, briefs, bow, long sleeve half top, cheer shoes, poms, warm ups) Total Estimated Cost: $360 *bag and megaphone lent out and must be returned *Camp wear--$40 (two custom shirts+two pairs shorts)—fundraiser to cover cost **This may not include all costs incurred during your child’s participation as a cheerleader, but it is a general idea. Please remember you get to keep EVERYTHING you pay for.

  11. Payment Plan Options PLAN A: -One time payment of $360 due on or before March 19th. PLAN B: -Two payments of $180 1stpayment due March 19th 2nd payment due April 16th PLAN C: -Three payments split 1st payment of $160 due March 19th 2nd payment of $100 due April 16th 3rd payment of $100 due May 7th PLAN D: -Four payments of $90 1st payment due March 19th 2nd payment due April 16th 3rd payment due May 7th 4th payment due June 4th *If you are in need of another payment plan please see Coach Hauser.
