BT: Connecting up the UK • £2.5bn investment to bring superfast broadband to two-thirds of UK premises by end of 2014 • Delivering innovation – Fibre on Demand • 99% of UK premises already have access to Broadband – best in Europe • 11m premises passed • 1m being passes each quarter • Public/Private partnerships could extend this to more than 90% of UK premises. • BT is trialling alternative solutions such as white spaces, wireless and satellite to reduce this even further • Don’t forget: • ADSL2+ ‘up to 20Mbps’ broadband to reach 90% of UK premises next Spring • 1080 Ethernet nodes and growing • 4m Wi-Fi hotspots and growing

Commitment from the Government In 2010 we heard… “Our goal is simple: within this parliament we want Britain to have the best superfast broadband network in Europe” Jeremy Hunt, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport • £830m public funding for superfast broadband in rural areas between now and 2017 • Wave 1 announced : Highlands and Islands, North Yorkshire, Cumbria, Herefordshire 2011 saw… • Wave 2 announced: Devon & Somerset, Norfolk, Wiltshire, Northamptonshire & Suffolk • Remaining funding allocated • Wales, Cambs & Surrey have commenced procurements 2012 is an important year By 2015

News from our partnerships • Our latest successes • Meanwhile… Lancashire Rutland • Fibre broadband to 97% of the county’s premises by the end of 2014 • Fibre broadband to at least 90% of the county by end of 2013 In Cornwall & The Isles of Scilly In Northern Ireland • Fibre to at least 80% of Cornwall - including The Isles of Scilly • Faster broadband for 100% of premises • Available now to 95,000 premises • 7800 customers connected • 22 CPs with customers connected • 87% of all lines are connected to a fibre cabinet • Extensive demand stimulation programme undertaken helping achieve over 76,000 connections • Roll-out continues…
