  1. OpenText StreamServe End of Support & Upgr OpenText StreamServe End of Support & Upgrade Options (Part ade Options (Part- -2 2) ) If you're using StreamServe for document generation and distribution, you've probably heard that StreamServe has gained extensive capabilities and passed some important milestones over the past few years in development and branding. Now, the StreamServe Support Lifecycle will end in June 2020. We've decided to clarify the situation for you and explain what happened to the product, how to upgrade to the latest supported version, and what your StreamServe replacement options are. Overview of StreamServe Overview of StreamServe StreamServe has been one of the top players in the customer communication management market. Founded in Sweden in 1997, StreamServe quickly gained a reputation thanks to many close partnerships with leading ERP, CRM, and supply chain solution providers such as Adobe Systems, IBM, InfoPrint Solutions Company, Lawson, and SAP Strong customer base, and the solution has gained a decent customer base. Mainly because of its tight integration with SAP (now marketed as a documentation showcase for SAP solutions), StreamServe was acquired by OpenText™. At that time OpenText™ and SAP already had a strong partnership. Like OpenText™, StreamServe has a reseller partnership with SAP, which makes it a natural fit for OpenText’s SAP partner strategy. Over the past two decades, StreamServe has acquired a wide range of capabilities and passed some important milestones in its development. The product was merged with other solutions and changed names several times. This caused some confusion among customers. In 2015, StreamServe was combined with the newly acquired PowerDocs, a cloud-based customer documentation creation tool known as Customer Communications Management (CCM). StreamServe is best for batch processing, while PowerDocs is designed for on- demand output management and is tightly integrated with MS Word and Salesforce. The StreamServe portion is renamed Customer Communications Enterprise (CCE) and the PowerDocs portion is renamed Customer Communications CRM.

  2. In 2016, OpenText™ acquired HP Exstream, one of the biggest competitors in the CCM space. Therefore, OpenText™ introduces Exstream 16.2, the next-generation customer communications management platform, which combines the best features of Customer Communications Enterprise (StreamServe and PowerDocs) and Exstream (formerly HP Exstream). Bentech can help you upgrade your OpenText Exstream, StreamServe, Document Presentment, Extended ECM for Content Suite, Content Server, Archive Server, and many more OpenText products. Today, OpenText™ Exstream (including StreamServe, Exstream, and PowerDocs) is actively used by more than 5,000 customers in 130 countries, primarily in the financial services, utilities, manufacturing, distribution, and telecommunications industries. Clients include BMW, Siemens Financial, AmerisourceBergen, FWD Life Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited, L'Oreal, KPN, TMVW, du, IWB, Sysco, New York Life Insurance, Enkla Elbolaget, IT-Power, SourceGas, Irish Dairy Board, Marel, Media Logistics, DONG Energy, SSAB, Blokker, Merrill Lynch, Northshore Credit, Humana, Aviva Insurance, Penn National, Unum, RDS Group, Denver Water, E.On, Powergrid International White Paper, etc. Key technology partners for OpenText™ Exstream include SAP, Salesforce, Infor, Oracle, Guidewire, and Duck Creek.

  3. OpenText StreamServe Replacement Options OpenText StreamServe Replacement Options 2. Upgrade StreamServe to Exstream Engine 2. Upgrade StreamServe to Exstream Engine Customers may consider moving to the Exstream engine part of OpenText™ Exstream 16.x. This type of upgrade requires the purchase of an additional license. However, StreamServe customers get a discount. This meant that all their current applications, forms (StoryTeller, PageOut), and logic had to be recreated from scratch. As an alternative, to minimize migration service costs, customers can run both applications in parallel for some time and migrate document templates in small logical batches. Also, keep in mind that a migration project such as this one is an excellent opportunity to kick off internal OpenText™ audits and consulting sessions, identify architectural weaknesses, and duplicate templates that can be collected into one template through usage rules or functional gaps. Current StreamServe customers can benefit from the differences between StreamServe and Exstream classic. Both solutions come from the same niche market, customer communications management (CCM), but, due to their different backgrounds, they offer different approaches to achieve similar business goals. Created for print service providers, and publishers, HP Exstream was adapted to the insurance market. No wonder Exstream Engines offers highly flexible tools for high-volume and personalized customer communications, including targeted campaign management. In addition, the Exstream engine simplifies the process of template maintenance and modification by providing a convenient interface to compare design changes, analyze rules, and control and standardize the delivery of messages, graphics and content. The diagram above gives a good overview of how Exstream 16.x combines Communication Server (CCE, StreamServe) engines and Exstream engine parts under one brand. As a result of replacing StreamServe with Exstream, you will have to recreate all forms and applications using Exstream Designer and Communications Designer. If your company uses StreamServe for ad hoc and personalized communications, you will have to recreate the logic in the Empower and Content Author web applications. Exstream Engine is now executable through the Communication Server platform and supports over 30 standard output connectors, including: • Email, SMS, or fax via EasyLink (cloud notifications) • SAP (RFC/Preview, IDocs) • OpenText™ archive

  4. In addition, the Exstream engine provides connection package file management with a design environment and production environment: • Design Manager can now connect to Common Asset Services (CAS) used in production server platform engine orchestration • Send package files directly to production via CAS deployment in Design Manager Starting with version 16, the Exstream engine provides out-of-the-box integration with OpenText™ products such as OpenText™ EIM repository, content server, and archive server. In addition to integration with OpenText™ products, the Exstream engine offers out- of-the-box integrations with many of the insurance industry's market-leading applications, such as Duck Creek Technologies and Guidewire InsuranceSuite, as well as e-signature applications such as DocuSign and e-VASCO's Sign Live. Additionally, OpenText™ has released an SAP Integration Pack that includes integration with SAP business processes, including the creation of embedded interactive documents in SAP S/4 HANA and SAP Fiori.
