What is The Early College at Center Grove? • A college preparatory program aimed at helping students gain college credit and experience college before they graduate from high school. • Rigorous course work with support through “Office Hours” that will prepare students for college readiness and success. • Mentoring, personalization, project-based learning and an emphasis on study skills.

  11. Accuplacer Will be given in mid-February during American Studies class and English 11 classes. Will be given in mid-February to freshmen who meet the criteria – homework completion, lexile level, grades, English screening test. Two parts – English/Reading and Math Untimed – must finish it within a two week window. Scores will determine which college classes students may enroll in.

PFWL 100 MATH – MATH 102 SCI – ERTH 100 or BIOL 100 SPCH 143 SOCL 151, SOCL 245 PSYC 142 Study Skills - SKLS 103 Two of these three courses – HUMN 210, PHIL 212, ENGL 202 One course from this group of classes – MUSM 118, ARTT 110, THEA 100, ERTH 100 or BIOL 100 Sixteen hours of elective credits (SKLS 105, COMP 110, MUSM 118, ART 110, THEA 100, COMP 107, PHIL 212, POLS 111, HIST 139, HIST 140, HUMN 211, SPAN 101, SPAN 103, SPAN 201)

  15. VU X-MesterRequired participation The student session is an intensive two-week event (June 2-16, 2012) on the Vincennes campus. Cost is approximately $1,000. Fundraising opportunities available. The students will earn transcripted college credit while living in the dorms, eating at the dining hall, learning in the labs, lecture halls and classrooms and studying in the library accompanied by a wide range of extra-curricular options.

  17. More details: Strong Math students may double up in math and take VU MATH 102 College Algebra along with Geometry Strong students may take Government and Econ their junior year. Weaker students should only take Govt. Strong students should consider taking POLS 111 which will count as HS government.

  20. Senior Year Schedule • Students may choose courses which meet their needs for degree completion and/or college admissions. • Students are encouraged to take at least one AP Course.

Partnership with Vincennes University We receive special tuition rates: • $25 per credit hour if the course is taught by one of our teachers who is credentialed by VU or if the class is on the Priority Liberal Arts List from the ICHE. • $75 per credit hour if the course is taught by an adjunct or through distance learning.

  24. Partnership with Vincennes University • Students enrolled in VU courses have access to all online student resources from VU. FEES MUST BE PAID BY THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS. • VU provides free Accuplacer testing for our students. ( $8 per student) • Whenever possible, VU allows us to purchase textbooks to rent to our students, a cost-saving measure for students.

  25. Partnership with Vincennes University VU provides academic support for curriculum alignment and articulation agreements for transfer credits. VU provides free tutoring in math and English VU provides adjuncts to us at no cost to the school corporation. VU provides a new full-time Academic Dean, Josh Baker.

  26. EC Summer School for 2013 READ 011 and MATH 016, two developmental classes will be offered this summer at CGHS. The cost is $225, and they are not college credit-bearing classes. Open to rising sophomores, juniors and seniors. Enroll on line after March 1. These are not credit recovery. Other possibilities are COMP 107- Web Page Design and others TBA.
