  2. Rules - Lookout • Sight, sound, VHF, Radar, AIS • Watch blind spots • No relaxing this rule

  3. Rules - Lookout • Watch for traffic from behind • High speed craft can come from horizon to your position in less than 10 mins!!

  4. Does risk of collision exist? • Take bearing • If it does not change – risk of collision exists

  5. Rules – craft meeting • Port to port • Turn right • Drive on right

  6. Rules – craft meeting • Give way to craft on starboard side • Right is right!!

  7. Rules – craft meeting • Overtaking boat keeps clear • This includes sailing boats!!

  8. Rules – craft meeting -priorities • Give way to craft less able to manoeuvre than you!

  9. Rules – craft meeting -priorities • Give way to shipping in channels • Cross with care • Keep out if possible

  10. Rules – Crossing a TSS • Heading at right angles to TSS • Avoid crossing in fog • Avoid sailing across in light winds • Cross as quickly as possible

  11. Rules – sailing vessels • Port gives way to starboard • Weather boat keeps clear • Overtaking boat keeps clear

  13. Lights - small craft lights • All craft 7m+ • Less than 50m (power) • Less than 20m (sail)
