  2. Goals: • To use a linear relationship to estimate the # of a certain type of office supply when you know its mass. • To apply this thinking to the mole concept • See how small atoms are by comparing a mole of a common everyday object to a mole of atoms on the periodic table

  5. Application • We do not use a line of best fit to convert from mass of an element to number of particles. • We use “the mole” because we can’t go directly from mass to number…. • Why can’t we go directly from mass to number?
