  2. I. Program History A. Program Initiation • PCEA (PA Cooperative Ed Association), is a professional organization of Co-op teachers in PA established in 1976 • Scholarship Program begun in 1981-82 • 1st Program at PSU announces 9 winners in 1982

  3. I. Program History B . Development • Over the last 27 years … • Over 500 Student Winners … • Nearly 3 million dollars!

  4. We are Winners!!! Statewide - Since 1982 2.8 million $$ 509 students • Tunkhannock - $353,000 for 92 students • 13% has gone to TAHS - - Ranked 1st in the state • 2007 -- TAHS had 4 winners for over $21,000 of scholarship • 2008 – 4 winners again for $15,400

  5. II. Program Purpose “To honor outstanding students who best exemplify the attitudes, skills, and personal decorum in the student community and Cooperative Education Programs.”

  6. II. Program Purpose This is done by awarding a specific scholarship amount to a specific school and program of study at that school.

  7. II. Program Purpose Scholarship amounts vary from - - $500 to $35,000!

Application Process ALL MAILED TOGETHER IN ONE PACKET • Completed Application • Completed Guidance Attendance & GPA Form • Copy of Official Transcript • 3 Letters of Recommendation • 150-250 Word Essay • Training Plan • Resume (1 page) • Co-op Coordinator • Employer • Teacher/Counselor or Administrator

  12. B. Screening Process (Cont.) TOP Three scores For any scholarship selected for Finalist interviews TOP SCORE = 80 Pts

  13. C. Finalist Interview Process • PSU- State College April 25 • Finalist MUST ATTEND • Score of up to 25 Points for interview added to screening score • Notified of result during following week • Two weeks to accept

  14. D. Timeline • Application/Directory out in January • Deadline for completed application packet is March 13th • Screening takes place late March - Finalists notified – then RSVP • Finalists interviews at PSU in Late April
