  2. Room I-18’s Expectations • We always do our best. • We use appropriate language at all times • We raise our hands if we have a question/answer. • We respect others and their property. • We use kind words to each other.

  3. The Knights’ Oath I will follow the knights’ honor code. I will be respectful. I will be responsible. I will be safe. A true knight knows what is right!

  4. Dress Code Reminders! • Students should wear shoes that have backings on them. No flip flops. • Tank tops need to have straps that are at least 1” thick. • Shorts should be worn under skirts • or dresses. • No profanity, inappropriate pictures, or sayings on shirts. • No shirts that come above the belly button.

  5. Earn Coming to school on time Participating in class discussions Good behavior Answering questions correctly Returning important papers Passing math facts timed tests Receiving 4’s & 5’s on tests Pay Not following classroom and/or school rules Losing papers Tilting on chairs No name on papers Talking while teacher is talking/shout outs Talking during tests Missing signatures in Reminder Binders Kohr Money

  6. Homework Focus Skill Math Reading Log Sometimes Science or Social Studies Students will be assigned homework on a nightly basis. They will write it down in their Reminder Binders before going home each day. Your child should be spending approximately 45 to 50 minutes a night on homework, Monday-Thursday, as required by the school district. These assignments will provide your child with more practice and confidence before an assessment is given. Homework is checked and collected the next day.

  7. Reading Log • Students are to read or be read to for 15 minutes each night. • It should be a book that is at their “Just Right” level. • Their reading log should be filled out and signed by an adult eachnight (highly suggested) after reading. • Logs are due on Friday-no signature, no credit.

Wednesday Envelopes *Graded papers will be sent home on Wednesday. *It will have graded papers and tests/quizzes from the previous week. *Please sign and return Signature Page on the back of the envelope. This will indicate that you have seen and reviewed these papers. *Any papers graded in red means that we have corrected their papers together in class.

  11. Grading Scale 5 - 90-100% Advanced Performance 4 - 80-89% Proficient Performance 3 – 70-79% Basic Performance 2 - 60-69% Minimal Performance 1 - 50% - Does Not Meet Standards

  16. Math Facts Multiplication is a BIG part of third grade math for the year. The students have to know their facts quickly through memorization. We will be singing songs and doing other activities to help them throughout the year. It would be a good idea to practice at home with flashcards if possible *Timed math facts will be done on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. .

  19. CST TESTING (3rd Grade) • Third grade is the first year that students are READING TO LEARN and NOT LEARNING TO READ. • CST test will be completely different this year. Students are required to read all written directions and questions on their own.

  20. I have high expectations of all my students and provide a well-rounded learning atmosphere that applies to all learners. Together the students and I establish collective and individual goals for each semester as well as the year. Please know that I am always open and available to meet with you and use your praise and/or concerns, comments or criticism in a positive way that will benefit your child’s development.
