  3. Why do we set Goals? When the archer misses the mark he turns and looks for the fault within himself. Failure to hit the bulls-eye is never the fault of the target. -Gilbert Arland

  6. SMART • Specific • Measurable • Attainable • Relevant • Timely

  7. S-Specific • Goals need to be specific. • Goals must be well defined, clear, and unambiguous • Who, what, why, when, how?

  8. M-Measurable Set specific criteria for measuring progress

  9. A-Attainable Goals must provide a stretch that inspire us to aim higher without being a set-up for failure.

  10. R -Relevant Your goal must be consistent with other goals established and be connected to your organization’s objectives.

  11. T-Timely Your goals must include a timeline, including a starting date and a target date of when your objectives should be accomplished.

Sharing goals Research recently conducted by Matthews shows that people who wrote down their goals, shared this information with a friend, and sent weekly updates to that friend were on average 33% more successful in accomplishing their stated goals than those who merely formulated goals. - Dr Gail Mathews
