  2. What are you making? • A clay sculpture based on an artist working from 1900-present. • You will complete a worksheet to accumulate information. • You will create a detailed and full color sketch of your cake before beginning with clay.

Vocabulary defined: • Art Movement: a style in art with a specific common philosophy, goal, or medium, with which many artists are operating during a designated time period • Theme: a reoccurring idea or subject matter that is present in a single work or a body of work. • Medium: the material with which an artist works. For example: photography, ceramic, metal, acrylic paint…

  4. How to choose a topic for your cake: • Suggested online resources are listed on the worksheet • Some reference books available in the classroom • Mobile lab research • Think about what kind of art YOU like – and remember that art is not confined to museums…
