Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers: 2013 All employers who enter the Apprenticeship Awards will be eligible and those judged to be the very best will be recognised as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer. As a National Apprenticeship Employer of the Year finalist you will enjoy: A top accolade for all the hard work you put into excelling and playing a leading part in putting Apprenticeships at the heart of your organisation whilst encouraging ambition and enterprise Public recognition for your commitment through national, regional and sector media channels, including the possibility of radio and television coverage Enhanced organisation’s reputation plus a motivated workforce and increased staff morale Publicity as a national exemplar to other employers The honour of being named as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer in England

  5. What are the judges looking for? Judges are looking for entrants that showcase the benefits to be gained from their commitment to Apprenticeships. They will be using the following criteria to score your application: Commitment: Demonstrates commitment to training their workforce; to embedding a training culture in their company; to the range/number of Apprenticeship frameworks supported; to future training and Apprenticeship development Business benefits: The training has enabled the business to improve, grow and perhaps even survive; the benefits are measurable and quantifiable Best practice and transferability: The entrant is an exemplar, and has the potential to act as a role model for other employers. Remember that if you succeed at the local area stage your application will naturally pass through to the national judges and will be competing with the country’s elite to be awarded a winner. Yorkshire Ambulance Service – Winner of Large Employer of the Year 2012 in Yorks & Humber Selection of points from their bid: Our Apprenticeships are integrated into the Trust’s strategic workforce planning as part of our business planning cycle and the potential for a range of Apprenticeships are continually considered and reviewed. This enables us to maintain a high-quality service for patients as we have the ability to slot apprentices into permanent positions which come about through natural staff turnover. The achievement rate stands at 87% with 75% of those who successfully completed the course now employed by YAS. Thirty-four have permanent position and 16 hold ‘bank’ contracts. Our PTS communications centre staff are required to answer 80% of all calls within 30 seconds. Before apprentices were working within the communications centre, YAS was delivering this, on average, between 60% and 70%. Since the introduction of apprentices, our statistics have improved and we are now delivering against this target, on average, between 80% and 90%
