GST or Goods and Services Tax is an indirect tax that replaced the multitude of taxes levied by manufacturers at different stages of production. GST superseded various taxes such as VAT, excise duty, service duty, entry duty, and more to become the sole parameter of tax in India.<br>Post the GST Act in Parliament on 29th March 2017, GST soon came into effect on 1st July 2017. Since then, it has been administered as a value-added tax on the consumption of various goods and services. The tax, which was held in contempt by most people of India- now becomes a breadwinner for many.
