  10. Fools – A Summary [1] • We must always keep in mind what Jesus said in Matthew 5:22 • But I say to you that anyone who is angry with a brother will be subjected to judgment. And whoever insults a brother will be brought before the council, and whoever says ‘Fool’ will be sent to fiery hell. • A wise person realizes that fools have to be treated in a different way. Wisdom would dictate that our dealings with individuals is based on their demonstrated character over a period of time.

  11. Fools – A Summary [2] • Our understanding of what God says about fools in Scripture, in particular Proverbs, will help us • Observe foolishness in others • See the fool in us reflected in our mirror • Our daily prayer should be that God will reveal to us our own foolishness • That we may repent of it for the sin that it is • That we may forsake it • That we make right with others that we have demonstrated our foolishness

  12. Fools – A Summary [3] • The fool loves to get our goat and bring us down to his level • He walks around with a big chip on his shoulder hoping you will attempt to knock it off • The fools words are no spoken in love • He speaks his mind which is messed up • He wants to engage us in arguments that cannot be won • God’s Word warns us not or engage the fool • We could end up being judged a fool also

  13. Fools – A Summary [4] • Do not waster your time trying to admonish a fool • He is not receptive to advise • He is rejects wisdom • You will find that your attempts to impart wisdom to a fool is not only fruitless but you will probably bring punishment on yourself.

  14. Fools – Some Final Thoughts [1] • The first thing that we must understand and accept is • Foolishness = Sin • Sin = Foolishness • We would reject being called a fool • But if we allow our temptation to become sin, have we not also chosen to be a fool? • Isn’t this what happen way back in the Garden of Eden? • Eve and Adam choose to sin even though they had a special relationship with God and they fully knew what God had said regarding the tree • This is true of us today; we sin because we think we know better than God

  15. Fools – Some Final Thoughts [2] • If you would study what is known about Satan and his previous standing before God, you could possibly consider Satan the biggest fool of all • Satan continue to play the fool and he has untold millions playing with him, even though he knows his end in the Lake of Fire • Scripture teaches that fools are prideful and Satan shows he is consumed by pride for he wants to be God

  16. Fools – Some Final Thoughts [3] • Some might say that being a fool is in the eye of the beholder • If you are a Christian or if you are to become a Christian then you will become a fool in the eyes of the unsaved • 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 says that the way of the cross is foolishness to those who are unsaved • In Job chapter 1 Satan calls Job a fool for trusting God and living a life that reflects that trust • Those who get all puffed up with wisdom, yes even biblical wisdom, have become fools before the Living God • God is searching for those who have a contrite heart that He might impact wisdom to him • One who has a contrite (teachable) heart has rejected his false concept of his own human understanding

  17. Fools – Some Final Thoughts [4] • God’s gives us wisdom in Psalm 119:105 • Your word is like a lamp for my feet and a light for my path • God has laid out for us in His Word the path that we are to follow • When we get out of the light of God’s Word we wander off His path and get caught up in foolish things that we learn is sin as God bring correction to His children • Some biblical examples are provided in 2 Samuel 11 concerning David and in 1 Kings 11 in regard to Solomon
