Rules & Guidelines • Instructor greetings, etiquette (Sir, Ma’am) • Correct address, “Sir/Ma’am, Recruit # and Name” • Stand at attention when an officer enters the room and remain standing until told to sit. • Safety is our #1 priority. If you’re injured, you need to let an instructor know immediately. • RESPECT your fellow recruits • TAKE CARE of your fellow recruits. Your a team. • BE ON TIME!! We start at 0700, not 0701!!

  5. NO HORSEPLAY OR INAPPROPRIATE ACTIVITY • Uniforms – Clean and neat. Polished boots. Inspections each morning. • PT – Physical Training on TU/TH at 0700. Be properly prepared. • Homework – Every night, completing it on time is a must. • Evaluations – You will receive a written evaluation from your company leader weekly.

  6. Personal Hygiene – clean shaven, shower daily, etc. • 3 U’s and You will be recommended for dismissal • HAVE FUN! • HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE! • Water/Rehab – Need to get a water bottle. 8 a day is a must. No Option • Any questions, please call Capt. Sobol at 239-3043.

  7. About The District • Provide Fire/EMS/Rescue to approx. 20,000 residents in an 80 square mile area. (see map) • Includes The Evergreen State College • Average approx. 2500 calls annually • 75 Personnel

  8. 6 Stations; 2 currently staffed 24/7 • Unique features of McLane/Black Lake Fire: • One of two districts in Thurston County to provide its own BLS transports to citizens. • Provide back-up BLS transports to West Thurston Regional Fire Authority, Tumwater Fire, and Olympia Fire.

  9. 3 – 24 hour Shift rotation; A,B,C Shifts • Shifts are 0700-0700. Be here by 0645 for shift. • 1 Career Capt., 2 Career Lt., 1 Career FF per shift (FF Adams works Tues/Friday’s) • A Shift – Capt. Hodge, Lt. Chipman, Lt. , Lt. Patti, and FF Stoltz • B Shift – Capt. Sobol, Lt. Farnham, Lt. Haun, and FF Risen • C Shift – Capt. Novak, Lt. Shennum, Lt. Grosvenor, and FF Kostelecky

  10. Kelly days included (kelly day is a shift off for reduction of hours) • Door Combination: Press 2, then 7, then 4, then 5.

  11. Food Lockers • Will be assigned during academy • Food Etiquette: • Eat only what is yours! • $15 per person will be collected each quarter for condiments • Keep your food locker clean or you will lose it

  12. Dorm Lockers • Each of you will be assigned a locker. • Recommended to keep a spare pair of clothes in your locker at all times.
