  1. CELL PHONES OR LAPTOPS ARE ALLOWED

  2. HOW TO GET CONTACTS FASTER THAN YOU USE THEM

  3. How to Get Contacts FasterThan You Use Them MESSAGE GOAL : The goal of this session is to help youunderstand how to get contacts fasterthan you can use them. This way, you will never run out of contacts. MAIN POINTS OF THIS SESSION: • Understand the importance of your attitude about asking for contacts. • Realize how much a contact is worth to you. • Know and practice the “art” of asking for contacts. [Especially the importance of Lists and Networking.] • Know how to get fresh contacts for an upcoming DMPD time.

  4. Many staff feel like if only they didn’t run out of contacts everything would be OK. They often blame this on the people who refuse to give them contacts. They don’t understand that it is really something else that is causing their problem. There are three main things that effect whether or not you will actually do this: • 1. Your attitude about asking for contacts; • 2. Realizing how much a contact is worth to you; • 3. Knowing and practicing the “art” of asking for contacts. (I.e., How to ask in a manner that will get you the largest number of contacts possible from each person asked.)

  5. Your Attitude about Asking for Contacts • These new Ministry Partners have already shown that they believe in what you are doing. They are with you!! You need to realize that you are helping them by letting them give you contacts (i.e. You are calling them along side you to be a bigger part of your ministry.) They can serve as part of you team right now by helping to give others an opportunity to be on the team as well. • Your bad attitude will cause you to expect people to say “no.” People typically do what you expect them to do. • There is often a good, better, and best way of doing things. We need to always work at doing things the best way. Asking for lots of contacts, with a good attitude, is always the best way to ask. • Your attitude is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

  6. Realizing How Much a Contact is Worth (Example from Cameroon) Calling 4contacts produces 3 appointments. Of these 3 appointment, 2 are likely to hold. 1 of the 2 appointmentswillbecome a Ministry Partner The average support given per Ministry Partner = $ 40 per month. So ittakes 4 contacts to giveyou 1 Ministry Partner who supports with $40 per month. Therefore, 1 contact isworth $10 per month. (i.e. $40 per monthdivided by the 4 contacts = $10 per month.) In continuation of thisexample: A. Imagine a Partner invests $40 per month and givesyou 2 contacts (In effect, he’sgivenyou $60 per month. [$40 per monthin cash and 2 X $10 per month = $20 per monthin contacts].) B. Imagine another Partner ratherinvests $10 per month and 14 contacts. (In effect, he’sgivenyou $150 per month. [$10 per monthin cash and 14 X $ 10 per month = $140 per monthin contacts].) WHO REALLY GAVE THE MOST?

  7. The “Art” of Asking for Contacts • When to ask for contacts. • How to introduce the need for contacts. • Getting the most contacts possible from every person. • Getting a few more contacts near the end of asking (especially important here is Networking). • How to handle some of the more difficult things some people say.

  8. Getting Fresh Contacts for an Upcoming DMPD Time • Pray that the Lord will help each of your Ministry Partners come up with 10-12 contacts. • Write a letter briefly explaining how much you need their help with this and saying you will be contacting them on a certain day. • Begin your DMPD time with 3 days of support maintaining with the top 8-12 Ministry Partners in at least 6 different churches.  • When you call or go by for a maintaining visit, use the ideas in “The Art of Asking for Contacts” above to get more names if you need to.  • Write a thank you note to each one after you get the names from them helping them to see what an important role they are playing as a Ministry Partner on the team.

  9. Summary To get contacts faster than you use them: • 1. Improve your attitude about asking for contacts. • 2. Keep in mind how much each contact is actually worth in monthly support. • 3. Learn and continually practice the art of getting lots of contacts. • Know when to ask. • Know what to say when asking. • Get people to a List and know how to keep them giving more contacts. • Get a few who are the most excited about being on your team to pre-call the contacts they give you just to mention that you will be calling. • Keep Networking by always trying to get one or two more contacts that are in a different church. • Know how to handle difficult situations. • Always attempt to get more fresh contacts before or right at the beginning of your DMPD time.

  10. ACTION POINTS: • Improve your attitude about asking for contacts by listening to the Attitude Messages daily. • Keep in mind how much each contact is actually worth in monthly support. • Learn and continually practice the art of getting lots of contacts.(Always think “List” and “Network.”) • Always attempt to get more fresh contacts before an upcoming DMPD time.
