  1. The green bag - An improvement in the recycling system

  2. What you canthrow in the green bag

  3. The green bag In Linkoping, Motala and Vadstena Commune they have introduced an improvement in the recycling system, the green bag. The bag is made out of 80 % recycled material. A bag with same functions has existed in several other communes since the 90-century. So the TekniskaVerken were not the first with the bag. The bag is produced by the company Miljösäck in Norrkoping. TekniskaVerken take care of all the green bags that are thrown in the trash can. The bags are sorted out by a robot. Now in the beginning there will only be one bag, but in the future they are planning to produce other bags with other colors and for other materials.

  4. Our trashes Almost 50 % of the trashes you throw away is leftovers. With help from the green bag we now can take care of both the energy and the nutrients in the food we throw away. From the energy and nutrients they produce biogas for vehicles and bio-fertilizer to use instead of chemical fertilizer in the farming.

  5. Howdoes it work? 1. We throw all our leftovers in the green bag. 2. We tie a double knot and throw the bag in our ordinary trash can. 3. The garbage truck pick up our trash and drive them to the recycling center.4. The green bags are sorted out by a robot. 5. From the green bags they produce bio-fertilizer to the farmers. 6. And they also produce biogas that we for example use in Östergötland’s buses

  6. In the biogas facility Biogas is a renewable fuel. When our leftovers break down in oxygen free environments it produces biogas. That’s what happens at the biogas facility in Linköping. They also produce bio-fertilizer. 1. In the pre-treatment facility the bags are emptied on leftovers. Then the bags are sent to the waste incineration where they get to district heating and electricity.2. The leftovers are pumped in a system where they are degraded and turn in to biogas.3. Before the gas can be used as a vehicle fuel the gas is cleaned to get the right quality. 4. In addition to the biogas it also produces bio-fertilizer.

  7. Some problem The producers of the bag had a problem in the beginning because when the garbage truck picked up the trash the garbage truck squeezed the trash to much so the green bags broke. Then they had to change the pressure in the truck but then they couldn’t get so much trash in the truck, which means that they have to drive twice as much, because only half of the trash fits in the truck. That’s not so good.
