  1. Achan’s Sin In All of Us Joshua 7

  2. Achan’s Sin In All of Us • 10 The LORD said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face? 11 Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions. 12 That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.

  3. Achan’s Sin In All of Us • 1. Joshua could have given up in desperation. He could have said, “We’ll never get rid of all the sin in our camp. We’re doomed! I might as well just join in the sinning, because there’s nothing we can do about it now.” • 2. Joshua could have just let it blow over. He could have said, “If I just give it enough time, the guilty parties will eventually realize that what they’ve done was wrong, and they’ll correct things themselves. I just need to sit here and wait.”

  4. Achan’s Sin In All of Us • 3. Joshua could decide to immediately find the source of the sin and root it out. • The Seriousness of Sin • Think about the terms we have for some of our sins. • The Solution
